Huh. Wonder why they did that.
« on: October 04, 2008, 02:41:37 pm »

I started a Dwarven adventurer and spawned next to a chasm. 10 troglodytes immediately descend on me and tear me into little bits.

Later, when I was looking at my adventurers in Legends, I found that that particular dwarven civ had my body impaled on a spear.

Must've been to ward off the damn trogs.

Nice touch toady

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

They've been doing this sort of thing for a while now. I'm just not sure why they did it to this particular adventurer.

I find a lot of goblin towers start near chasms. Why, I remember finding a string of towers under siege from various cave critters. Oh, best adventure mode time I have ever had.

Perhaps a tunnel made by the gobbos was nearby?

Dude.  You got beaten up by troglodytes.  That's just disgraceful.

No wonder they put your corpse on a spike.

Haha, yeah. You lost to a group of bone-gnawing weaklings. Dwarves don't like people getting the impression that they're weak, so they impaled you. :D

I hadn't had a chance to improve any of my skills, I forgot to bring a shield with, and they outnumbered me ten-to-one.

Or perhaps the civilization in question liked to impale things.

You parked your wagon in a no-parking zone? Impalement!

Fell behind on your loans? Impalement!

Drunk too much booze? Impalement, and possible gutting!

I found my previous adventurer impaled once too, but that was after I set fire to most of the trees and grass in town, burned 12 people to death, then got impatient, started with the outright murders, and caught a crossbow bolt in the face.

In Dwarven culture, it is common practice to impale self-proclaimed 'adventurers' simply because they died without slaughtering enough elves.

I have no idea if that's actually true, but it seems to fit so far.

So even the elves impale their adventurers for not slaughtering enough elves?

For not slaughtering enough of the elves captured by goblins and introduced to their heathen ways, yes.

Even a kobold can manage to kill a few elves before dieing, so anybody that kicks the bucket without at least one set of ears in their pockets clearly deserves full punishment.
