Save and region files not in data/save
« on: October 03, 2008, 10:18:35 pm »

I usually find them in "Dwarf Fortress/Data/Save/" but right now there is nothing in there besides an empty "current" folder.

I have 2 worlds and a save showing up in my dwarf fortress game, when I click "start playing."

But I can't find anything in the folder where they should be.

Also, was that campfire bug fixed? I think I have crashed a few times from a goblin campfire, but I'm not certain...

Are you running Vista?

I can't imagine Vista would suck THAT much as to hide those files suddenly.

I'd heard something to the effect that Vista tries to force programs, including DF, to save user data in My Documents or something.

If your runing DF from, say "C:\program files\DF", then Vista moves any files created/modified by the apps in said folder (i think) to "C:\Users\{user name here}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\DF".

I did it like this for a while, but got sick of messing with files in two locations.

You should be able to merge the two folders to somewhere easier to manage without a hitch.
