3x3 Embark UPDATE! (now with towercaps)
« on: October 03, 2008, 03:15:37 am »

For those on the prowl for towercaps this new map should cover it. The 4x4 embark contains pretty much everything and can be trimmed according to whether you want a replenishing water source in the form of either a river or an aquifer. Sadly, none of these contain sedimentary layers, but, well, we can't all be winners.

3x3 OR 4x4 Embark: The Sable Land
Embark option 1 (3x3):
Contains: An underground river, a magma pipe, an underground chasm, adamantite, flux, trees, sand, all civs.
Minerals: Rhyolite, Marble, Gabbro, Black Sand.

Region Map (not very descriptive, but here for consistency (I'm pedantic like that)):

Embark option 2 (4x4):
Contains: A river, an aquifer, an underground pool, a magma pipe, an underground chasm, adamantite, flux, trees, sand, all civs.
Minerals: Andesite, Phyllite, Granite, Sandy Clay, Obsidian, Marble, Gabbro, Yellow Sand, Basalt, Granite.

3x3 Embark: The Lovely Land
Contains: A brook, a magma pipe, an underground chasm, adamantite, flux, trees, sand, all civs.
Minerals: Felsite, Quartzite, Granite, Black Sand, Obsidian, Marble and Peat.
It's biggest downfall is that it has zilch for savagery (despite the haunted/terryifying biomes).

Minerals: Obsidian, Marble, Gabbro, Red Sand, Clay Loam, Loam, Andesite, Rhyolite, Diorite.
Has rats, antmen, cave swallowmen and naked mole dogs in decent numbers.

3x3 Embark: The Everseeing Land
Contains: A brook, a magma pipe, a chasm, adamantite, flux, trees, all civs.
   Minerals: Peat, Rhyolite, Marble, Granite.
Upside is GCS almost always spawn on embark. Plenty of chasm critters crawling around.

I assume you've built there, so hows the supply of iron?

Sadly enough, I haven't built there yet, just scouted. Looks promising though. Thread title changed accordingly. Sorry for any inconvenient missunderstanding.

I'm still relatively new to the game and this whole forum thing so go easy on me  :-[

Oh, its probably still a good location, but you know: you can have all the flux in the world, but you can't make steel without iron ;).
Though marble doesn't usually have much iron, you never know..

Did he not say all neighboring civs?  I seem to remeber never mining for iron myself...

Goblins are a very reliable iron ore, shouldn't be a problem

There's a whole lot of other crap to haul though. Oh, and wrestlers don't have iron Armour anymore.

That's a darn near perfect start location.  Does it have any sand?

Well even with Iron ore I'd still prefer the are to be haunted or terrifying. You can have only so much fun without skeletal mountain goats.

Even then, that's a step below zombie hippos. And even THAT is below skeletal whales.

Ok, I change my vote. This can be very fun. Giant Cave Spiders, Antmen and Troglodytes in the neighbour is plenty fun! :D The GCS spawned on top level of the chasm, meaning with easy walking path to the wagon... Fun ensued.

Seems the vote goes towards haunted and terrifying. I have some work to do, but will later attempt to get this covered. Given that even this world took generating and 'f'inding on 53 worlds, it could take some time. But then again, I am a perfectionist, and a meticulous one at that, so given enough time we may strike gold.

Hopefully this gen has at least pleased some of you. Luck will hopefully be in my (and your) favor, and will bring about a new world release soon.

Cheers  :)
