The funeral of the King was a solemn affair. His body was carried down the winding staircase to the depths of the mountain home by the a member of each of the six noble houses. They were followed by a procession of every dwarf in the capital, young and old. They passed through the great archway that led to the catacombs, past the tombs of the many great heroes. The deeper they went the more lavish and guilded the tombs became, until the gravestones bore the names of the line of kings. The King's body was lain in his tomb, and the priests began their holy rights. In the crowd, a general murmur arrose.
"Even the King isn't safe from the blood curse" One dwarf whispered.
"Just be glad we didn't go down the other way. There are fifty new graves being dug."
"Fifty? I'd been told to make a lot of coffins, but I just thought some noble wanted a fuller crypt."
"My brother and his whole family were fine one morning, and dead as stone the next"
Some soldiers quieted the crowd before the priests addressed them. "My fellow dwarves, our King has passed before us into the waiting arms of Armok. May he join his ancestors in the afterlife and watch over us in these troubled times."
A silence fell over the crowd, and the priests bowed their heads in quiet prayer. A child pushed her way through the crowd, and walked up to the now-sealed door of the King's tomb. Two guards moved to stop her, but before they could lay a hand on her, they were thrown to the opposite side of the cavern by some unseen force. The child turned to the priests, and spoke in an unholy and raspy voice.
"You seek my favor to usher your King into the afterlife? You are worms beneath me. Made of my own blood, and you let those beasts defile the gifts I gave you. I gave you the life within you, and I can take it by right of blood." The child held out her hand and grasped it tight. The head priest fell to his knees, shaking. Blood poured from his ears and eyes. The only noise he made was a gurgle before collapsing, dead. "Return the temple that was destroyed. Recover the gifts I bestowed, or all your blood is mine again."
The child collapsed on the floor in a comatose stupor.

It is the will of our new King and new High Priest that seven dwarves set out to a specific location deep within goblin territory. After the spectacle of the last King's burial, it is a somber, but important mission. I have been told little, but what I do know is that this location was once a temple to the Blood God, Armok. We are to build an outpost there, and attempt to fight off the nearby goblins. Nobles and priests will be sent once the basic fortress is up to continue with the second phase of our mission, and while I haven't been told what that is, I know the rumors.
We are to recover the gifts of Armok. The legendary artifacts of the Blood God, given to the seven dwarves whom he created. I do not know what they are, they have long since been lost in legend, but I do know that they were all located in the temple of Armok before it was destroyed centuries ago. Most likely, they are still buried there, if they haven't been scavenged by the goblins that pollute the area. I must go and collect the neccesary provisions for this journey, as well as located the others who are going with me. It will be perilous, but no more so than staying here under the wrath of the blood god. Twenty coffins were filled today alone.
