Google ca. 2001
« on: October 01, 2008, 07:22:38 pm »

In honor of their 10th anniversary, Google has released an archive of their search index from way back in 2001.  Now you can relive the simpler times, when the entire internet was on only a few billion pages.

P.S.  I found something quite interesting.
One of Toady's earlier games?

In the interest of science, I decided to compare certain web page count numbers from then and now.

Porn------------------Then = 4.5 Million
                               Now  = 236 Million

Barack Obama ------- Then = 773
                               Now  = 64 Million

Dwarf Fortress ------- Then = 10,000
                                Now = 228,000

Google ---------- -----Then = 4 Million
                                Now = 3 Billion

I encourage you to continue this experiment.

Oddly enough, I was one of those Barack Obama searches. I read a little about him and was like "This guy sounds like an idiot." Of course, now that I know more than that he's a senator and from Illinois (I consider those both to be bad things), I like him.

Hilarious.

Oh wow, one of my first thoughts was to search for my old website and see how long ago i made it.
It was there.
Amazingly, almost all the stuff on it still works.
I should try and remember the password and such, so i can delete it.

Thought the 'now' would've been higher.  Oh, and the FBI was already offering $5 million for him.  Huh.  Why, I don't know, since the FBI only handles internal affairs.

 Seems people always hated EA.

 I wonder if you can see the time before memes came about. Like the time BEFORE Chuck Norris became American Jesus.
