Strange moods ignore material usability.

No deaths? Where's the fun in that?

Why am I so (un?)lucky to have no one die?

It's always interesting to have someone die or do something just for the purpose of doing it.

Now, I feel stupid, because it feels like I accomplished too much during this year. My total created wealth is 140,000...

I'll post my happenings in a bit.

As soon as I figure out how to post images. Which I might have too many of. Oh well.

what's wrong with doing too much?

as long as you tell the story well, you've got a good shot at being picked.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Summary: Woodcutter becomes Legendary Tanner by stabbing his eye out and making an artifact mitten. Now with burning miner and magma flies! Go me!

23 dwarves (19 adults, 2 children, 2 babies)
140,000 174,220 Created Wealth. Wow. (To be fair, about 60% of that is artifact)

EDIT: Here's a map: http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-3681-bravechannel

As it seems to be the trend:  Everyone should upload their map to maparchieve so we can really get a feel for the variety from the different players styles.

I forgot to upload the bottom tunnel, and I accidentally uploaded to far up. Oh well. I've posted some good POI's

Also, I've discovered a bug in the magma glass smelter. Instead of repeating a task until it can't, it repeats by looping the tasks over and over again. Odd. Maybe this is new.
Not a bug. It's been like that since I've been playing DF, so ~3-4 releases (not counting letter-change releases)

Is it only in the Magma Glass Smelter, or is it everything? Because that didn't happen in the regular glass furnace in 40c

What did you use the regular glass furnace for? It's been in every workshop I've used. Mason, Carpentry, Crafts, Forges, Smelters... Never used regular glass furnaces. My forts are not (always) made of trees so I don't waste wood like that.

OOC: This was my first time playing on a map with an aquifer, and I got a little obsessed with trying to pierce it with pumps, even though that method was unneccessay. As a result I didn't do a lot with the rest of the fort.

Real life got in the way, and so I had to go with a pretty lame turn with no narrative write-up.

Population: 17
Wealth: 81213
Summary: Tower of doom.  Culling of pet-owners for lame leather artifact.  Culling of half fortress population just because.
Map: Will upload as soon as I get my DFMA account up and running.

...Yeah, I went a little crazy at the end.  I doubt anyone will want to play this fortress, since the only useful dwarves left are in the process of getting massacred by the tantruming dwarves who lost friends and spouses.
