hey i often read to sell artifacts to a caravan and you can buy the whole thing with just selling one of these. but somehow i am unable to sell them.
i really want to offer my obsidian scepter with a pic of the founder of my dwarfen civ to the dwarf caravan ^^

Sadly, selling artifacts is impossible. The only thing the non-furniture artifacts do is raise your fortress wealth, and possibly give you a legendary dwarf.

Can't you put it in a bin or something? I know I have put my artifacts in bins, not sure if you can trade them then.

Can't you put it in a bin or something? I know I have put my artifacts in bins, not sure if you can trade them then.

If you put them in a bin, that mark that bin for trading, the dwarf will put the artifact on the ground and take the bin.
It's probably possible to hack the game to allow artifact trading though...

I once abandoned a fort, reclaimed it and was able to sell an artifact created before abandoning it. Not sure if this still works, but I noticed that a bin had too high a value.
