It'll haft to wait, my engraver is making sure we don't starve to death at the moment.  1 kid who can't do much 6 dwarfs active and working 4 who are bedridden with wounds.

I wonder if your engravers will carve scenes of elves raining from the sky.

Good call!  Lets find out.

What the hell!  That guy who lost his marbles just beat up another dwarf, calmed down, then dismantled a bridge underneath himself: dropping himself into the magma.  Now I need to rebuild the damn thing, that was my main piece of defense dammit!

Great. . . now his only daughter has had her brother trampled to death and both her parents burned to death in the magma pool.  I'm giving her her own name and drafting her into the military when she gets older.

I've just detailed a wall aaand. . . he's engraved a picture of. . . thread.  Sweet.  :(

Now this is weirld, my expedition leader is "conducting a meeting" and the daughter of the late nut head is "attending the meeting" never had this happen before.  Must be consoling the child on the loss of her entire family.
Yeah, engravers won't make pictures that are relevant to the history of the fortress until they gain some skill. The mayor/expedition leader does conduct meetings, listening to complaints and so on, which makes the dwarves who have the chance to complain a bit happier.

And by the way: Things like this is what I love about DF :D I hope your fortress doesn't fall into a tantrum spiral, it would be great to see a grand fortress built on top of all this destruction.

Yeah, I'm building burial receptacles, bedrooms and dining rooms to keep everyone happy.  Trying to keep my booze and food at acceptable levels while trying to fix my defenses.  I've patched that hole I broke out of earlier and I've replaced the bridge.

Didn't stop a thief from breaking in and stabbing someone to death though.

a Thief... Killed someone?
If that wasn't a master thief i'd be almost as suprised as if my champion got his arse handeled by a macaque.

In my experience, a thief never manages to kill someone, unless a dwarf actually throws himself at that copper dagger. Which is of course rather common, seeing as how an average dwarf has the survival instinct of a bipolar sloth.

Watching the movie, I noticed something:

Squad "The Large Busts" has been annihilated!

MyLittlePonyBuiltMyHotRod, this is your first warning. I would like to direct you to read our forum's FAQ and posting guidelines before posting again. Specifically we don't use swear words here, and your picture of Stalin riding a Year3 Limited Edition Starflower inside a German concentration camp was both upsetting and historically inaccurate.

By the way, if you're really at war with the elves, could I have the seeds for your world? I'd really like to try being at war with someone, but I've never had it happen just by chance. In case you don't know, you can get all data by exporting an image of the fortress, you will get a file called "[fortname]-param-regionx-XX-XXXXX.txt, my current one looks like this:

[WORLD_GEN]

   [TITLE:LARGE]

   [SEED:2242669463]

   [HISTORY_SEED:2599662043]

   [NAME_SEED:3645919270]

   [DIM:257:257]

   [END_YEAR:50]

I'd like to see if it gives the same results. Thanks :)

Absolutely,  here you go:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It might still be the forest fire case and not just default war.  Just so you know.

The fact that you had no traders made me suspect it and usually fire imps only cause grass fires, that leave trees intact. And I've created the world now, and not only are you at war with elves, at certain parts it's all out war with the goblins too :D

This is gonna be so much Fun. Thanks a lot!

Aw man that didn't go so well.  One of my dwarfs has been beaten unconceous with a mangled body.  All my dwarfs are thristy, taking a drink from the brook.  Migrants have arrived, how am I supposed to feed them?!

One word; tryouts. Send everyone in with the best you can give em, the survivors will earn their food tonight through blood and sweat.

I like how one of the dwarves cast himself with an elf still in hand into the lava. It's too bad DF doesn't recognize the sheer heroics of it.

And thus did the dream of dwarven antigravity fade away, not with a massive explosion or a flood of magma, but with a whimper.

I'm going to be depressed all day now.

Well it's absolute chaos, all of the dwarven civs seem to be at war with either elves or goblins somewhere on the map, but I did find one spot where one civ was at war with both.
