[40d] injured/prisoned dwarf on bed is not resting but idle
« on: September 27, 2008, 06:54:37 am »

i have lots of metalsmiths, because of some disgustiong production orders i ignore (because i dont like to make stupid things from stupid metal i dont have... 100 of steel but no billon ), they are always punished (my captain of the guards even has 3 kills in her kill overview, with metalsmiths *coughs*)

but now one of the metalsmiths got some bashing, she was taken to bed... but wait? she is idle, no job, sitting in bed, getting food and water since 3 years, and now she starts throwing a tantrum because she had no work for seasons. shouldnt she normal be at resting state for the whole time and sleep? she just has a yellow leg.

and yes i have lots of metalsmiths lurking in my prisons, but they are too all idle, getting food and water. maybe they should get a work task "imprisoned" or something.

i have now 3 idle dwarfs all the time for 1 years, but all three got some justice because of production orders, its a bit confusing as i tend to keep all my 200 citizens busy.

From "Angroshs Kinder" Das schwarze Auge Zwergenhandbuch - (Angrosh Children, the dark eye, german pen&paper, dwarven handbook):
"Elves!? Their men dont wear beards, and their women bathe nacked to lure you into the water and drown you. Thank Angrosh they are as ugly as the day and all big and skinny."

Searching on this topic suggests that this happens to dwarves which are rescued by the "health care" job, when lying injured out in the field unconscious and unable to move.  Their buddies drag them back to bed in the barracks, and then they never rest or move again.  They are requesting food and water (according to search, they didn't used to), but still never move or heal...even when their bed is undesignated, or when they are drafted/undrafted.  This happened to the one dwarf I had who was rescued instead of crawling home.  Rescuing is the kiss of death.

Bumping this topic to ask if anyone has a workaround.  I was going to just Heal my critter, but that module doesn't seem to work for me right now.  Probably a good thing as my wounded dwarf was going to tantrum.  Oh well...he was just a woodcutter who wandered onto the map, and immediately picked a fight.  No big loss.

Oh, a biomass/24 hour solar facility. How green!

Module?  As in Tweak?  I'm surprised, with the numbers, that that works for you at all.
...Dwarf Companion would work better.
It does have a heal option.

somehow i am misunderstood...

sometimes dwarfs rest, and still be count as "idle" in the counter, and imprisoned dwarfs are always "no job" and so also "idle" in said counter.
