Awesome idea; I'll try and gen up something ridiculous for this.

Be sure to export the map after world generation, then convert it to a png and post it here. I recommend http://imageshack.us for image hosting. No registration required, and quick and easy. However, it has somewhat low bandwidth, and the images don't last forever. Something like photobucket would work for longer-term hosting.

Remember to at least have *some* non-terrifying/evil spots, or else there will be very few civilizations.

i would suggest also using pumps and pressure plates and a lot of power to trigger grates , floodgates, spike traps, and everything you can think of. if you do it well, you could make a mechanical fort, very dangerous if you aren't careful. maybe you could make it start by stepping on a pressure plate , that will link pumps to windmills/water wheels. pumps will start moving water between small pools iwth pressure plates on them. when there is enough water, pressure plates will trigger other pumps and all the traps.

by stepping on the pressure plate that make everything start working, a floodgate would close behind you. your only way out is to reach the room with a lever that will open the floodgate and with a tunnel that leads to a hole 1 z level above the floodgate (now open, so you can jump outside. )

unluckly, this is too much for me. but if anyone is good with DF mechanics, it would be a nice and hard fort

Thanks, inaluct. But don't forget the smelter reaction! If you add one later, you'd have to generate a new world for it to work.
Does changing a smelter reaction require a new fortress? If it doesn't, one smelter reaction is technically enough. If it does, we should have at least three of them. There are no disadvantages to them and cheating is perfectly acceptable in this project.

Just go into the world in legends mode and hit p. You'll find it in your dwarf fortress folder. Remember to convert it from bmp, please. BMPs have an ungodly large filesize.

I haven't done the smelter reaction. If there are any Novice Modders or better in this topic, they should probably do it. If you need to gen a new world,

World Gen Parameters:

Anyway, how is this?

Special thanks go to Spoggerific for telling me how to export the map, an MC Dirty for making this kickass topic.

Actually, I think I figured out how to mod it.

If I just remove [FUEL] and the reagents from everything, then it's all free, right?

Yeah. You can just use the adamantine wafer reaction for anything you need :P

I'm interested in trying this.

We'd need some sort of ordered list, so that we can all get our fortresses on the map. If you post the world, then we all download it and start making our dungeons, we'd have 10 different worlds all with one fort on them. Perhaps the order of posting, or maybe activity?

Let's just have MC Dirty make a list. I think I have the smelter reaction in. It's in a different, equally insane world.

No elves eh? Works since any exotic animals you'd get from them would just die upon abandon anyways.

Well, I've made a list, but don't expect, that I'll change it today. The Nintendo DS Browser is a pain and it's almost 11 PM here.
I guess, you'll have to organize the passing-on for yourselves because I won't be anywhere near a computer from next tuesday to the tuesday after it.
