Proof that the DF catsplosion has real life correlation. And much the same solution...

Over 10,000 cats euthanized!? That's horrible!

Think of all that meat gone to waste!  :D

Seriously, though, it seems odd they aren't giving the meat to those starving children you can feed for only a zillion dollars a year. It's not like they would care where it came from, and if they're euthanizing the cats anyway...

This is your brain on DF.

After spending some time pondering on whether it's ethical to eat cats, I've come to the conclusion that feeding 10,000 cats to starving children is not at all a bad idea. Or selling them to KFC.. a cat is essentially a smaller chicken.

I've touristed in countries with a cat problem replacing the pigeon problem. So many depressingly scummy felixes.
Since that mad cow disease epidemic though, I cant see the government OKing eating vagrant felines. Or eating things that ate them.

A guy I knew kept a pet python.

As the snake was getting bigger, so were its feeding needs. Initially, it was fed mice, then rats, finally, when it grew 7 metres long, rabbits. All that food was getting a bit expensive, so this guy and his pal caught a feral cat in the basement and fed the snake with it.
Unfortunately, the snake died 2 days later. I don't know if anybody got a heart attack upon finding a 7 metre-long dead snake in the dumpster.

So, cats might not be as healthy to eat as you'd think.

It's a bad idea to eat carnivore meat for two reasons:

1. It generally doesn't taste very good.

2. The higher up the food chain you go, the more fat-soluble toxins begin to accumulate in tissues. If mice in a region have even a few micrograms of, say, methylmercury in their tissues, and a cat eats hundreds of mice over its lifespan, you'll basically be chowing down on a toxin sandwich if you eat a cat.

So wait, eating a vermin ridden, garbage-eating, diseased alley-cat could be bad for you?

Heck, it's bad even for snakes.

Was the cat alive when it was swallowed? They're a bit.. pointier than bunnies, especially the feral variety

Dunno, I haven't seen it. Pythons are constrictors, so probably not.
