Edit: Can it be a tad bit earlier please? like 6pm where your at... or something? cause 12am is a bit late for my household... noise travels through my home as my PC is directly above my parents bedroom, and they get annoyed.

Just turn sound off.
All the sounds the game really makes are train/car/boat horns, explosions, and train crossings anyway.

So I recently downloaded this and I have a question. Why are all my vehicles so shit? Seriously I had a small bus route between two towns that was working (built it for a subsidy) a wood - sawmill train track that worked fine. Then kind of a tangled mess of roads interconnecting two towns, a wood a sawmill a coal mine and two power stations. Along this I had a lot of vehicles, a mail coach, a bus, wood trucks coal trucks and a goods truck. But they were all on double figures for breakdowns since their last service and if I ever scanned them at least one would be broken down most likely about half. I also had an iron mine to steel mill train which kept on breaking down and would go at like 8 miles an hour (Although the speed was solved when I bridged the valley it had to go up and down)

But anyhow yeh. How do I make my cars and trains not spend half their time as useless wrecks?

Proper service on trains, especially the first ones you can buy, is quite important.  Reliability will deteriorate as the train is in use and can only be replenished by servicing.  Some trains can have higher maximum reliabilities, if a train is inherently unreliable you will have to service it more often, and will ultimately deal with more breakdowns.  You can force them to service by having the tracks take them into and out of depots as they travel.  You can also send them to a particular depot for servicing on their schedule.  The power of your train is as important as its top speed.  Power dictates acceleration, which helps overcome decellerating effects of changes in track direction and going uphill.  If your trains are crawling around you can try decreasing the number of cars the engine has to pull, or you can always add a second engine to the train.  Eliminating bends in the track and elevation changes will help as well.

I almost exclusively use trains in this game, but i'm guessing your road vehicles need better servicing as well.

Well, once you discover how low the interest is on loans it kind of starts taking the fun out of the game. I just borrow as much as I can and keep setting up more railways and trains it's very easy to make more money than cost of interest. Especially with things like in the desert/swiss setting the second diesel train is an improvement in every way over the steam train, except it costs more, but if you take out a loan to cover the extra cost the interest on the loan is less than the decrease in the running cost.

Edited for clarification.
