I fixed it by making a river directly to the refinery anyway, it was a pretty short distance.
The city I started it is named mountainhomes, the company is Mountainhomes Caravan.co
I literaly have a constant 500k+ load of oil being loaded into the refinery and two sets of trains exporting it to a second city and to the mountain homes by truck (it's a short distance).
This is my new favorite game.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  The obvious solution is to chain the baby up at the entrance as a kobold detector.

I recently tried the desert themed map, and it wasn't much fun. You have to really work at it if you wanted cities to grow.

I don't know.  Duke wants me to stop playing mafia.
That's the sign of an abusive boyfriend, Toony... you don't have to listen to him.

To exist or not exist, that is the query. For whether it is more optimal of the CPU to endure the viruses and spam of outragous fortune, or to something something something.

I made a company on the bay12 server and set up some small things, hope that's okay.
That's what the server's up for! Hope you're having fun with it.

It is a little harder, but you only need to make sure you have some amount of food and water delivered each month, and that's only for the cities that have a center tile in the desert itself. Plus, water tends to fetch a pretty high price anyway. I like the desert maps, if only for a little variety now and then.

When you click Multiplayer to join the game in the first place there's a spot to change your name on the server list in the upper right. You have to log out and change it there as you're logging back in to actually change your name. You'll still be able to join whatever company you want as long as you know the company's password (if there is one).

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Honestly, I'd play more desert or arctic if there was more variety with trains. All you get are piddly-ass diesel locomotives that can barely pull themselves until you hit monorails.

Yeah I forgot about the trainsets being different on different terrains.

I have a bit of an announcement: because I'm switching ISPs and my new ISP got my address wrong I'm not going to have internet for a few days. That means the server's going to be offline starting tomorrow (August 1st). I might give it a week off or I might start it back up when I get an internet connection, I'm not sure at this point. The computer I'm using as a server is in my bedroom and it heats the room ridiculously well, which is, unfortunately, a bad thing in summer. I'll figure out if there's somewhere else I can set it up so that it's less intrusive in the meantime, and I'll post here when it's back up and running.

Necro/bump

Recently started playing OTTD. How did everyone figure out 3 and 4 way junctions? It's really damn frustrating, and nobody online seems to use them.

There are junction recipes online. I use the ones on the openttd.org wiki/manual: http://wiki.openttd.org/Junction
Also look at the stations and signals page.

If those junctions are too simplistic and mundane for you  ::) , try these: http://wiki.openttdcoop.org/Junctionary

I know of the wiki ones, just hard to figure out where it's necessary sometimes. And thanks for the co-op ones, they look awesome  :D
E: The TTDX site actually clears it up for me.
