Passengers might be easier, but coal is great for getting started.

Huh. Apparently it's my internet, not the computer. That's odd. Oh well, hopefully a router restart fixes it.

Edit: uhh... huh. Well, we had a very brief but fairly violent storm, so maybe that knocked out internet? I dunno. Sorry guys, but as soon as my internet's back the server should autoreconnect.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

So for some reason when I got on the server just now, my company was no longer password protected. Doesn't seem like anybody touched it, so unless it happens more often, I'm fine.

Also, twice now, I have left the server for a few hours and upon returning, all of my planes are missing. I find it hard to believe that they crash that frequently, especially because bluerobin still has 16 aircraft.

I watched it. One of your planes crashed on the runway. Then 3 or 4 planes crashed into the crashed plane...

One of Bluerobin's planes crashed too around the same time, killing 402. I think it crashed into a stadium for good measure. The environment generally felt a bit unsafe for a while there.

Okay, I figured it out through the wiki: I was using a Commuter Airport as my hub. Since all of my planes are "Large" they have a 5% chance of crashing when trying to land there.

Upgrading that airport is the first thing I'm doing when the server is back up.

Whuh oh... just screenshotted the whole map on accident. Sorry if it's messing with the server guys!

Edit: Apparently it worked, but there's no way in hell my computer's opening a 213mb .png file right now. Instead, have a look at the wonderful city that Head has made his home:
Spoiler: Big picture (click to show/hide)

Can you guess what's not supposed to have been built there? :P

suggestion, if anybody is into it

next game, use the mod found in this post: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=887639#p887639

makes cargoes have a set destination the they need to get too, making it more challenging.

im not a fan of the idea of cargo having a set destination sure it makes it more challenging but i think it would be more enjoyable to make random fun stuff. also having to transport cargo from one side of an island to the other when there is another plant closer but not a set destination is somewhat frustrating. it would be like Simutrans cept with inflation.

Are planes still as broken as they were a couple of years ago, or have they balanced them out a little? Planes were more or less an infinite money cheat since they're far too profitable. Lots of servers used to disable planes because of it.

I used to play an awesome combo of newGRFs, but now I can't remember what they were called. One replaced the trains and rail cars with real historical models, either american or british. I think they were a bit slower than vanilla trains, but could pull a lot more wagons. And they looked great too, especially the steam locomotives. Another changed the value chain a lot. It added some new cargos, mines and oilfields had a maximum total production, and factories would only accept a certain amount of raw materials every month. I think it changed the look of a lot of buildings too.
