yes you can ... just a really non revelant note firefox addblock rigth click and block image ... no more moving avatars for me i love that ... (just find this trick now on Pies avatar ..., maybe i do with some other too now ...)
THANK YOU. That's MUCH better.
And I don't get how you can call my avatar poor taste when a hell of a lot of the appeal of DF (at least for me) is the black humour - having a diplomat have his leg torn to shit by a Cougar, chasing after my perfectly agile leader for about a year and then finally cornering him at the top of a very tall tower under construction. And then my leader removing the floor from beneath the liason's feet. And then the Liason falling 20 z levels and exploding on impact.
See the thing is, reading about it and seeing it explicitly laid out are two entirely different things. That's part of why it's a good thing that DF is in ASCII, it's not all that explicit. Seriously, hitting someone so hard they fly into a wall and blow apart is way funnier when it's just little 2s than visualizing it. It's funny because it's so ridiculous, not because it's blood and guts and dying.
As per your request, i'll say something on topic now.
Whenever you change something in the init file or the raws, you're playing a slightly different game than people who didn't make the same changes. Thats why it seems like cheating, which is when you 'play a different game' by changing something. For example, it's cheating in sports to use steroids because you're not competing with your natural strength while the whole point of sports is to pit your natural strength (and endurance, agility, etc.) against other people. So you're playing under different conditions. It wouldn't be cheating if everyone was required to use steroids for that sport (not like that'll ever happen in real life).
I guess that's also why people might take offense at being told to change something in the raws or init to solve a problem, you're telling them to play another game. It's like asking for strategy help in Age of Empires and being told to 'play Empire Earth instead of that stupid game' to use a pretty lousy example. (No i don't know what lice have to do with it.
