Cow (Tame) has given birth to cow calves.
« on: September 17, 2008, 02:02:20 pm »

Any real farmer please correct me if I'm wrong, but I had once the pleasure to be able to be present at a calve birth... A cow will always only give birth to one and only one calve only. Considering it is mostly large enough it can stand directly a few minutes after birth, I can hardly imagine more than 1 fitting into the mother.

EDIT: Maybe cows have twins like humans do... but hardly 3 calves is by far not as normal than with say cats or dogs.. At least I can't imagine a wildlife cow to be able to survive a birth of 3 calves...

Google Research?

Even better:

A cow in Pingluo County in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region gave birth to four calves ->

Looks like that nothing is impossible in China!  ;D

Google Research?

There is a difference in between extreme seldomly happening once every few decades somewhere in the world, or the game handling cows births just like cats... therefore the post. Thanks for googling nevertheless.

As someone who grew up on a farm and assisted in the calving each spring I can say indeed that cows have one and only one calf the majority of the time. In fact, out of 50-ish cows, I can only recall one multiple birth on our farm up until we moved off the farm when I was 13.

Also this might be a good time to mention that it's impossible to breed a horse and a donkey, even though mules are implemented.

Re. cows and horses having multiple babies, just add [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] to their entries in the raws. That will lead to more realistic behavior from them.
