Unhurt cat cancels store item: too injured

I repeatedly get a message from a pet kitten wandering about - and I'm not making up this name, it's what the game gave it:

Lolor Likotkat, Kitten (Tame) cancels Store Item in Stockpile: Too injured.

I took a look at Lolor the first 4 times this message appeared - he's not hurt at all.  What's going on?

While the bug has been reported several times, and is more annoying than harmful, this thread was worth seeing just for the name.
