The entity_default raw.

The [CITY] [trEE_CITY] [DARK_FORTRESS] tags need to be edited to match [FORTRESS].

Also, the preferred biomes of your civs need to match where your fort is.

Eventually civ refugees will make their way there.

So, LIKESSITE:[FORTRESS]?

Actually what I think you are looking for is [RUIN]  it also might be [CAVE_DETAILED].

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

I've tried experimenting with the ruin tag, it seems to mean specific, ruined cites. Like, houses and stuff.

I'm pretty sure that non-Dark fortresses are CAVE_DETAILED.  This should include abandoned player fortresses, I think.

I thought the site type was PLAYER_FORTRESS or something to that effect.

All speculation--unless someone tries it out, none of the information is realiable or helpful to the OP. I haven't messed with these tokens myself but a lot of what's said here makes sense, but DF is not always beholden to sensibility.

Actually, after checking the executable with a hex editor, I just confirmed that I was right.  PLAYER_FORTRESS is listed alongside DARK_FORTRESS and such.  I'm not sure just how much happens during play, though, in terms of immigration and site habitation.  You might only get permanent site inhabitants from world gen for all I know, so it's possible you won't find anything civilized in your old forts.
