An enormous horde of goblins has arrived! To arms, to arms!
« on: September 12, 2008, 11:56:32 pm »

I suggest a different version of attacking. There's ambush, siege.. and then invasion. An invasion should be multiple waves of sieges, and each wave should be more inclined to stay and fight than quickly retreat like they do in a siege. They should also assault from multiple directions, and if they're a subterranean/mountain race they should also invade from chasms or pits. They'd be led by some legendary king, of course, maybe the ruler of their entire civilization (or the demon they worship?).

Would be a good idea to do it after the army overhaul, though, and after extra bits like sieges making bridges over moats. It should be difficult, if not impossible to survive unscathed.

We need goblins riding dragons and GCS. THAT would make sieges more fun.

Giant Cave Spiders.  Which is to say, doom.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

It would be pretty lulz if enemy AI somehow gained the ability to set cage traps, or to somehow capture your dwarves and slowly torture them...

I don't fear goblins riding dragons and GCS.

I think the nightmare of every fortress is a gobling wielding a pickaxe!

Imagine goblins carving themselves ramps/stairways and tunnel to get through obstacles. Or not to use the obvious entrance which is likely littered with traps.

Hm I would like to see more variations actually, once the Army Arc will be functional.
Example:
1. Waves of attacks from different directions
2. Whole enemy army attacks in the same time from the same direction
3. Whole enemy army attacks in the same time from different directions
