No, but it is a cold climate and It is centered in the river. I have blocked off the river at one point and fed it into a 4 way intersection. One way empties the river into a chasm, the other feeds the cistern, the last one continues the river. That way I have siege protection, river dumping, and other features at my will :)

unfortunately this fortress just had the glitch with spontaneous combustion (see the bug section on my spontaneous combustion thread) and I have to reclaim it now :(

Sorry for thread necromancy, but it was either this or making a new thread. Which is kinda redundant.

At any rate, I am currently working on a massive statue of a dorf, kneeling and holding a bowl on his back (think Atlas), with two dorfs with jars pouring water into the bowl.

If I don't make this go massively cock-eyed, it will be grand. If not...Well, Losing Is Fun.

I wonder if I can include Carp somehow...

ADDENDUM: I will make it cry, too.

have it cry waterfalls of carp into a pool that is screwpumped into the water jar to be cried out again.
Do carp break when they fall out of a water fall?

If so make it cry elves.

Sounds awesome!

Edit: And megaprojects are fun. I'm currently sitting on 100,000 pieces of mined out stone from a major re-landscaping endeavor, and waiting on a single mechanic to finish connecting all the supports to a lever... why can't more than one dwarf do that a time? why!?

Ordinarily, I'd say it'd be enough to have an Atlas with the fortress in his back. Bonus points if you put it on a mountain top.

It must also have a bridge for a mouth. When a lever is pulled, hundreds of caged goblins are thrown out of the giant statue, from a distance it looks like the dwarf is suffering from cave adaption.

So thats:

Goblin for vomit
Elves for bone-break death
Carps for...y'know, carps.

Hmm.

I think I'll have to make a human stockpile. Does anyone know if they breed? I wanna know before making a needless breeding pen.

You have a drawing of this made already? Sort of a blueprint?

Not really, no. I'm still working on carving out the base for it from the mountain. Including the "slabs" that will eventually form the Dwatlas. I'll be making a plan once that is done, probably. Either that or you guys just get to see the end product and I'll be basking in glory and dwarven ale.

Really, I don't often make blueprints for my constructions.

Also, I'll be using 3Dwarf A LOT. To see if it looks okay. Yeah. Thats my plan.

My problem here is making the things look dwarfy. What's your planned height of the thing?

Well, I have 26 levels available. Aiming for 20, content with 15.

Hmm, I should probably draw up something for this, thinking about it again. Oh well, that will have to wait 'till tomorrow.

A lake. With a fortress at the bottom.
I plan to make the whole fortress accessible only from a trapdoor within a small log cabin.
When I started this game, there was a heard of elephants right next to the cart. I decided that this camp would be very Fun indeed.

I keep attempting the carve out a mountain and do it Tronjheim style (Sorry, only fantasy reference I could make.) instead of the usual Moria style with passages all over, but I'm kinda having some difficulty with the whole collapsing everything.  Would the best Idea be to just mine out every floor and then channel the whole way around the top floor so it collapses?  Would it fall the whole way down then?

I haven't played DF in months, I've been away at school, ie with a laptop and no large keyboard so it's awkward for DF. Anyone think this idea could work, though:

I basically want a bunch of goblin/animal/criminal dwarf POWs stored on a drawbridge at the top of a big tower. In the event of a goblin siege, I fling them as sort of living buckshot at the invaders.

How far could I expect the ammunition to be flung? Would the impact hurt any invaders or would it just cripple/dismember the ammunition? I think it would still have a fun demoralising effect.

When I finish Tronjheim, anyone want me to upload a map of it?  I've been going for a year at about 50fps for a day and have about half of it done.  I'm planning on stopping one level above the cave river, collapsing from the bottom up, then digging out a level beneath everything at the cave river for the lower, less important citizens of CrazedBridges (which, even after being a random name, seems to fit, as nearly everything will be connected at random levels with little bridges of floors).
