Soon after the dwarven caravan left, a migrant wave came to say hi. I drafted them all into the military, apart from one engineer who I thought would make a good siege operator. It wasn't long until winter came around, and then I noticed on my units screen that she was attending a meeting. A quick look at her thoughts revealed that she was unhappy with the lack of work last season, even though she hadn't even been in the fort a month, so there was no time to do any real work.

(Strangely, she was also irritated at having to give somebody water, even though it says she is compassionate...)

dwarves can be in "attend meeting" if they're unhappy. what isn't obvious is that they can do it while trapped!
(in a pit or something)
usually its a problem if they fell down during mining and deconstruction, with the injury unhappyness.
