Assuming they feel pain, losing an eye will basically render them unable to fight - they'll keep passing out from the pain. They won't go blind until they have no eyes left, but blindness is the least of their worries.

Could very well bleed to death pretty quick if you grab their cephalothorax with a hand and gouge all the eyes out in quick succession.

New quibble. Gray squirrels don't have the [MUNDANE] tag. Gray squirrels happen to visit my backyard so i'd say they're a real creature.

I'm going to collect all the quibbles in the first post, as far as i am able to.

Edit: Revamped the OP.

General quibble: Only vermin with the shell tag are able to drop shells. Large creatures don't. Which is probably why snailmen don't have it.

While we are in topic, all humanoids should have kicking as their second main attack.
Actually you just break someone's both hands and he can only bite you...

Another thing:
Crocodiles and Alligators should have better SWIM_SPEED. In RL they are much faster in water than on land.

Snailmen have no shells.

Not solvable until there large shells for larger-than-vermin creatures. The shell produced is always rather small. You can't just stack it like bone either.

Hmm, maybe if they leave behind a 'snailman shell' which is actually a new kind of item (large shell) that can be broken into stacks of 'shell pieces' which are then used like normal shells.

Perhaps when bonecarving respects the number of bones in a stack.

I've found out that antmen drop bones and skulls upon rotting despite being arthropods.

Antmen should also have [CHITIN] tag.

Some ocean creatures like Mussel and Oyster should have shells. They are vermin so the [HASSHELL] tag should work.

Weird, i thought antmen already had the [CHITIN] tag. I'll tack that on.

And about the shells too.

Edit: Hmm, cave swallows (vermin size) have [PET_EXOTIC] for some reason despite just being, well birds. I don't see why they'd be harder to tame than say a cardinal.

For what it's worth, unicorns don't seem to have a [CHILD] tag, and probably should have [PET_EXOTIC], although the latter is more a suggestion than anything, based on the fact that you can even tame dragons and giant desert scorpions, and unicorns are tameable in folklore anyway to a degree; certainly a higher degree than giant arthropods.

Dwarves have beards.

Adding a beard as a body part isn't a good idea with the current system, cause dwarves will likely bleed to death if someone cut off their beard...

Dwarves have beards.

From Dev_Next:

Creature Improvements

So, sounds like Toady will get around to fixing that one sometime soon.

That's what actually happens if you cut off their beard. They die. Perfectly realistic.
