toad fixed an erroneous goblin message for elf sieges in 40d,
anyone know what this was changed from and to? does it still say
a force of vile darkness has arrived if stealthed elves arrive to attack or
does it say something else now? itd be cool if it got specific about whats
shown up, but im also wondering if hes removed the message altogether, and
now stealthed elves show up unannounced... ouch.

Obviously the message is still there.
What it is, I have no idea.
Probably "An elf springs from ambush!" for ambushes...
As for sieges, I have no idea, as the message doesn't show up in (a)nnouncements and thus won't show up in the gamelog.txt either.  (I'm going to assume it's the generic message, the same as what's used for humans)

Obviously? i dunno about that man, i mean, goblin ambushes dont announce theyre there until someones getting shot at. all toady says is that he fixed the erroneous message. for all we know its gone altogether.

what does it say when humans show up? ive never had a war with them yet.

It only distinguishes narrowness for clothing that is otherwise the proper size, I think.

narrow is why you can't wear goblin armor, large is why you can't wear elf armor.

narrow is why you can't wear goblin armor, large is why you can't wear elf armor.

Yeah, but IIRC narrow is why humans can't wear elf armor. (i.e., in terms of clothing sizes, elves are to humans what goblins are to dwarves.)
