Better to know something isn't coming than to think something is coming when it isn't.

Now we can think about other things before the wicked awesome release comes. And have time for it without worrying about the release happening RIGHT NOW.

toady, should people focus on:
throwing out wild war-arc ideas now, _as opposed to_ later?

just because there might be something big that updating would break compatibility for in the future

or do you have most of the big features planned out

I guess sooner rather than later is good for pretty much everything.  I note down and (roughly) categorize any suggestion thread number that I find worthwhile, so things likely won't be lost to time if they go up now, though it will be lost to time to other posters if you don't think you'll get as much discussion now compared to later.  Once I'm further along with positions and their responsibilities, I can post the new raws so that people can make suggestions prior to this compat break release.

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

I love your prayer.  It is pleasant and brings me happy thoughts.

I have admired a prayer recently.

I'd like to ask.. after updating just last night from 40c to 40d, it's not letting me play. I made sure 40d is the only df related things on my computer, but when I try to run it, it gives me an error console saying the fmod.dll component is missing. Help?

Well clearly you are missing a file called fmod.dll  It should be included with the release, so I'd suggest either trying a clean reinstall or downloading the file and sticking it in the DF directory.

Somehow I don't think this thread needs a bump.

This thread needs a bump as much as a bluewhale needs a fur-hat. A beaver-pelt fur hat.

Personally, I find that blue whales have an atrocious lack of beaver pelt hats.

But that's just my opinion.  I wonder if I can edit those in in the RAWs.

Now I must disagree with this. I find Blue Whales erfectly fine the way they are. Now Sperm Whales, they could use a little work in the headware department.

And ontopic, it seems Toady is having lots of trouble with the site. This is causing valuable time spent on DF to go to something else. It is quite clear the internet itself is causing Toady slowdowns.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am going to challenge the internet to a DF duel. If I win, the internet must help Toady in any way it can. If it wins, it can have its way with me.

 Let the games begin!

Surely that way lies madness and things made of chocolate.

As long as it's real chocolate, and not that white pseudo-chocolate confection.

I tell ya, white "chocolate" is a conspiracy! Perpetuated by elite factions of communist governments in an attempt to socialize cats across the world. Say no to white "chocolate"!!!!!
