Errrr, what version of DF is this on? It's not working for either 40c or 38 something . . .

Help please? I used WinRar to extract region_7 and placed it in the saves folder with all of the other regions (and yes, I did erase any extra 7's).

EDIT to avoid triple post: Then again, if I'm still allowed to continue (happy to use new year's eve for it, aftr I get off of work) could you just post the whole DF file, Jamni? That way it's idiot proof. What it says about me . . .  :-\

Installing this DF Save file for Dummies:
Step 1: Have a fresh install of DF 40d (Note it says DF version to the right on the file page)
Step 2: Download the file
Step 3: Extract the file either by clicking "Extract" (Sometimes doesn't work) or highlighting all of the files/folders and dragging them to a new folder.
Step 4: Copy (Or cut) the region7 folder into \data\save
Step 5: Run DF, select continue game, select the region7 save
Step 6: Get a move on, it's 2 days, not 2 months  ;)

I did that comrade. And it didn't work. Why don't we just skip me?

I also give myself Kudos for not typing the second sentence in caps.

It's on a 40d save.

Looks like we are skipping Strife for now then. Since I have already expressed no interest in doing two consecutive years that would make it Pure_w's turn. S/he has two days to respond too the PM I am sending before we skip her and move on to Maggarg.

Someone PM Maggarg, if he can't do it either Jamini does another turn or this ends.

The Journal of Zdurbim Cattenatol, Mayor of Limulgen

1st Granite 206
This is the first entry of the new year's log. I have been
told I am the new administrator of this museum by the previous
incumbent, Malaki Sairrithar, a Dungeon master. All my precursors
have been very academic dwarves, dedicated to history and their
museum. Very admirable, but not good for the running of a settlement.
As my old Grag, Maggarg the Elder, told me, a dwarf will oft set
out to do a task, and he will finish with a folly. This was before he
decided to retire, and ended up administrating one of the largest
mines in the world, and the greatest exporter of salt.
My uncle, Maggarg the younger, told me that where there's muck, there's
generally a dwarf you can rob. My aunt, Maggarg told me to send her
some booze and an axe so she could escape.

I hate my family.

*Later that day*
A dwarf has withdrawn from our dysfunctional society. Disturbingly,
many of the curators are ecstatic! They say that he may create an
artifact for an exhibition.
Talking of exhibitions, I may do an interactive "Human Town" exhibit.
Underground, of course, to please the plebs. The academics will
complain, but they have no conception of the normal dwarf.
Hmm. Perhaps an artificial forest?
The town will be 2 shift-arrows by 2 shift arrows, and will be
about 2 shafts deep.

2nd Granite
Must ask the other curators what I should finish.
Naaaaah.
Looked at our stock records and such. I found that the fort is
worth over 1.3 million turtles in value.
However, our imports exceed our exports by a factor of 10.
Still rather impressive with a population of only 83.

4th granite
We have struck malachite whilst mining out the top of my exhibit.
I think we could do with a few copper doors and things.
Very shiny, is polished copper.
We also struck Chrysocolla, a bluish gemstone.
Very useful.

5th granite.
I found the cultures exhibit. Very dwarven. We have goblins in
captivity, battering at the glass walls (Two shoulders of the finest
clear glass.) We also have two peasants and some planned human and
elf exhibits.
Hmm. A deep mine exhibit would be nice.
Yeeees.

8th granite
The digging goes well. A few academics complain that my exhibit will
"dumb up" the museum. I responded that it would at least be accessible
,as opposed to some of their badly-planned exhibits, such as the Hub.

11th granite
The Elves have arrived.I'm fairly sure there's a way to capture them
for the exhibit.
Also half the brook is frozen.

13th granite
I just had to sign about 20 slaughter permits.
Now I know why old uncle maggarg kept asking me if I was
really sure i liked donkey kebabs.

15th granite
I have found that a fortress like this largely manages itself.
This leaves me with a lot of free time. i shall have to ponder
new exhibits.

OOC:
Don't have much time this week.
At rehearsals, doing coursework, at gym, playing bass.

Mmm,

I like the idea of an interactive human town exhibit. Including a small tower-cap "park" would be cool to see as well. :)

Oh, and could you put me down for the second turn after Maggarg? (since it looks like we don't have anyone in the list at all) I would like to take another turn, just not too close to my previous one.

16th granite
Recieved a very heavy parcel from Old uncle maggarg.
It was in fact a thirty foot long letter detailing all
the things he hated about young people.
I hate old people.

17th granite
Stared at an exhibit today. It looked like an old pair of
miner's trousers with all the rock on it.

18th granite.
Found the millstones today.
They don't seem to do much.

19th granite
MORE SLAUGHTER PERMITS.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

21st granite
We need more damnned bins. This place is strew with junk.
Perhaps we should make use of all this copper that way.

22nd granite
The first level of the Town exhibit is nearly mined out.
It will then be a matter of clearing the ores out and
channeling away the next floor down. Then someone can move all
the rock. It's not going to be me.

24th granite
Struck some more Chrysocolla crystals.

25th granite
They've been digging for nearly a month dammit.
I want results.

26th granite
People keep giving me bits of old blue paper with vague orders on them
to me. An example is "make ash (10)"
At least I think it says that. It's a bit singed.

28th granite
The first level of the town complex is finished.
I want the walls smoothed, the ore removed and the second level dug
by the end of the season.

1st slate
I hate first of the months.
Especially when walking through a crowd of burly champions and miners.
My upper arm is battered to a pulp. Pinch and a punch my arse.

2nd slate
My office is filled with hundreds of bits of pink paper.
All of them tell me of the slaughter of an animal. I know they're
slaughtered dammit. I told you to slaugther the blasted things.
Gragh, dwarves.

3rd slate
I think we need a waterfall as well. If I have a chance, I'll
make one.

4th slate
Our ore stocks need expanding, so I'm using the mined out magnetite
cluster as a stockpile.

5th slate
More dead kitties.

8th slate
We began the channeling of the botom of the Town Exhibit.

9th slate
No, we don't. The miners are asleep.
I hate dwarves.

11th slate
Installed a few windows in the dungeon master's tower.
Most unnatural dwarven dwelling EVER.
*later that day*
" We have struck mica!*
I DON'T CARE YOU NARCOLEPTIC LAZY SHIFTLESS BASTARD.

14th slate
I'm sulking because no-one does what I say.
Apart from the butchers. They like me. They are a little bit scary.
I worry about what will happen when they run out of animals to
slaughter. I suspect that our pies might taste a little...
Dwarfy.

The events of the fifteenth of slate.
Kosoth Nakuthablel sat in his room. His vision began to subside.
He was so relieved that it was gone. Now perhaps he'd be able to
concentrate on moving the furniture blocking his door.
Then his face contorted into a hideous picture of absolute horror and
despair. It was gone. He could never become great. He had failed his
ancestors by failing to make his artifact. He let out a long, harsh
wail of dejected madness and began flinging himself around his tiny
room. No-one would find him until someone decided to add the rest of
the top floor to the tower of rooms. He would be long dead by then.
