if youve got a land creature in a terrarium, say a cat. can one then set it to aquarium, keeping the creature inside and forcing dwarves to drown it??

I believe you end up with a water-breathing cat, but I honestly haven't heard anything about it since the 2d version, so that might be incorrect now.

Yep, it doesn't seem to do any sort of drowning checks for caged creatures (as of several versions ago, 38c or so).  I know because my goblin aquarium was a complete failure.

Just remove the cats' ability to swim if you want to drown the buggers
