When you create a world and export image/info, there will be a text document called "regionX-world_history."

At the top will be a list of civs, their rulers, their gods, and what spheres their gods are apart of. Use this to limit your searches, but beware that it'll list civs that have been conquered as well.

I've found over a dozen temples dedicated to fire gods, all full of water or empty. I'm about to give up entirely :\

Enter the RAWs.

Spheres are hardcoded.  They can't be removed.

Removed from the game? No. But you can edit which spheres a civs has the chance of worshiping, however.

Which doesn't seem to have any impact on whether the temples are full of magma or not.

Dammit, i just want a temple in a human town with a magma pool at the bottom, is it so much to ask!

Yes.

Also, note to self; the detailed rock walls around the magma in the temple do not give a warm stone warning if you accidentally dig into them...

--EDIT--

*Punches wall* DAMMIT!

It turns out the magma in the temple doesn't count for magma buildings. *Throws hands up into the air* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

All those wasted hours *sniffle*

There's a utility for enabling magma buildings, look on the wiki page for utilities.

I'm not sure if it works with the latest 40d# releases or not.

I found a temple in a dark tower that had been conquered by dwarves. It was three stories high, and went 3 z-levels underground, and had a water pool in the bottom. The pool was surrounded by engraved orthoclase on all three levels, and the upper temple structure was built of garnierite blocks.
It was bright green, and had dwarven priests.

It was pretty cool.

Yes.  I once set up 4 magma buildings on the 4 squares of magma in my HFS.  That was a cool fortress.

Only vaguely. Made of the same substance and put to the same use, but a bit like comparing a castle and a doublewide trailer.

I meant, does HFS enable the buildings?

Maybe the bright green was moss?

Which appears on stone buildings after about a decade.
