Oh i know i can find a temple in fort mode by plunking down on a settlement, i'm trying to work out how to locate a temple before i embark, like say one dedicated to a fire god so i have a chance of getting it full of magmarr!

Scouting in adventurer mode would probably be your best bet.  Go around, find a civ with a dominant god devoted to fire, then find the temple.  Having said adventurer jump into the pool of magma as an offering to said fire god is optional but recommended.

How do i find out what gods a given civ worships?

Better yet, mod into a creature that can survive in magma with fairly large size.

Jump into the magma pool, and start wresting people into it.

Check legends for gods.

Been looking in ledgends for the past half-hour, having difficulty finding gods.

histfigs- they occur before the civ they're worshiped from.

I have noticed that temples show up under 'structures', there seems to be depressingly few though, and so far all the ones i've located were full of water

haha, I was browsing through religous structures in my legends file, and I found a goblin temple called "the bad temple" and a human mead hall called "the good temple."

Ok, locating a temple with lava in it is proving to be inordinately difficult.

I think i've worked out how to cut out a few steps. This is still going to be time consuming, but hopefully less so now.

Step 1: Remove unwanted spheres
Step 2:Make Humans more expansive so they don't lose stuff
Step 3:Gen New World
Step 4:Go to Capital, find temple
Step 5:Drink magma

Also, how do i remove spheres?

I can't find anything relating to spheres in the .txt raw files.

It was full of water.
