Carnivore deers
« on: September 02, 2008, 02:18:06 am »

So, some deers got stuck in my cagetraps and I decided to tame them. To my suprise all 4 deers were tamed by giving them fish (black bullhead trout, if I remember right). One was tamed by my ranger and three by my DM. So it wasn't a fault in for example my DM's view of world.

I was wondering, should there be a [HERBIVORE] -tag attached to creatures that won't eat meat (like elves...)?

Lol, I just now noticed that your avatar is an owl or a pair of owls Neoskel. I have been thinking of the breast feathers as teeth in a mouth, and this was a relevation.

Yes, right now you can even tame a deer with deer meat. Taming and training is only half finished, just like a bunch of other things (not complaining, it's an alpha so obviously things won't be finished yet).

I imagine one day Toady will get around to it.

Thief:"Quiet kitty, Qui-"
Cat:"THIEF! Protect the hoard from the skulking filth!"
The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

And actually goats eat almost anything, includind metal cans, so maybe in future versions we must fear for the [ALL_HUNGRY] goats that eat our steel bars :)

By any chance have you seen the film Black Sheep? LOL

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

Hello!

You know, this discussion reminds me of a real life video I saw on the internet.

Some guys had tied a chick down to the ground and the had a cow eat it...

Not really the kind of thing I want to remember...

EDIT: Typo corrected thanks to Neoskel.

Oh. Yeah, owls are much less disturbing. Thanks for sharing your noticing :)

Hi!

Well, this has been widely discussed by people here and caused what I consider an overreaction of describing the elves as cannibals who actually start conflicts in order to eat a meal.

Neoskel: Thank you for your support.

And I am among the lucky few, it seems, who immediately understood it were owls :) :) :)
