Which Arc should be next?
« on: September 01, 2008, 11:02:34 pm »

Ok, enough of suggesting things that are most likely in the development list. How about we pick something that's already planned for development? I guess the army arc is already on its way... but which arc would you like to see next?

I'd vote for either the artifact arc or the fire and lighting arc. I'd actually love some fire and lighting, assuming it won't lower the frame rate any more than it does. It makes it feel more like an underground fort.

Adventurer skills preliminary. We need to be able to produce meat from a kill.

I am MOST looking forward to the County Arc, and the Magic Arc. Though those two are in the far future, as in 3 generations down the line.

In the near future I am looking forward to the adventurer skills, then army arc. Army arc seems more interesting, but adventurer skills will create alot of extra replayability the game didn't already have, it will also be alot faster for Toady to program.

Caravan arc. I do so want wars to spring up over resources, and cities to be built near rivers. Meeting merchants in the middle of nowhere might be nice too.

Greetings!

DF is so complex, there are so many interesting ways it could develop towards next (this also makes it impossible to vote for just three suggestions in that other thread).

Going through the arc list linked to, I think the one I like best is the Relationships Arc, especially its implications for fortress mode. Ghosts Arc and Bustling Towns Arc would be close seconds on my list, I guess.

Which SHOULD be next?

Well... hmmm

Carrivan Arc: If only because it is constantly refered to as being needed

After that? Adventurer skills seems nice... as is the Bustling town arc

I am MOST looking forward to the County Arc, and the Magic Arc.

Same here followed by Diplomacy and the Combat Arcs [+ presentation arc for a better interface + text/gfx separation] 8)

I'd have to say Caravan and County, for me.

Keep in mind, though, that Toady has said he isn't going to be focusing on just ONE arc anymore. It's more interesting to work on different things, which I understand completely.

I'm all for anything economic.  Caravan arc, resources tracking at sites, artifacts in world gen... different economic effects (supply and demand) in fortress mode...

Yeah, all that
