Janna will handle truck repairs next turn, so it should be alright. The group is very close to being able to leave without further delays. Maybe even next turn, if all goes well.

I suppose it's all because there's so many players. A large group of RNG-guided individuals is statistically bound to explode all over the place every so often.

Alright, who are we missing? Kashyyk, korora, and the new arrival. Kashyyk posted elsewhere that he will be gone for the week starting from friday, so I assume he won't be posting. With him, it's 6 people on AI and I refuse to take on any more. I may start arbitrarily killing people for no good reason if this keeps up. Where the hell are Gantolandon and Neo? They're both gone for more than a month...

Kashyyk trapped in his mind? is he a magnet for this kind of things? he already did that in my RTD.
Good to know that he is gone for the week anyway.I will put him on AI.

With a recent computer issue, replacing most of it(not the HD or interface), and having to reinstall windows, I didn't notice the update, but now, I am glad to finally NOT be playing by PM.

I think it would be best if I a) don't freeze, and b) get to know the others.

And, c) tell them a little story

So did you just overshoot that, creating the whole earthquake/volcano thing back then? It did seem a bit odd for Zako to have done all of that, but I figured Gantolandon just got unlucky too.

Probably.

Speaking of "my overshots", I rolled a 6 while trying to make some edits to the turn I posted, and ended up somehow overwriting the OP, losing part of the extended rules and the assembled waiting list. So, yeah.

And the case here involved some rolls you won't see, but they were 5,6,1,6, and the damage rolls after that were 1,2,4,2, with the 4 being your general vicinity. Camp Wildcat was one of the 2s.

Next turn is going to be fun. Here's a riddle for ya: if the number of players and the number of NPCs remains the same, how could there be 3 new characters?

Simple; kill off 3 players and hire 3 new ones.

Question though is what 3? I would guess Rooster and Chatoicag are 2 of them, but whose the third? My guess would be Gantolandon since he's playing by PM atm and apparently hasn't been around for a month. Course there is always the off chance you guys killed all three NPCs in one shot and just happens 3 new NPCs showed up (kinda doubting that one).

Hehe. Okay, tougher riddle. If the players and NPCs remain the same in names and numbers, how can there be three new characters?

Or maybe two. It's still a little sketchy.

Well, a distinction might be made between NPCs (who are not hostile outright) and persistent enemies; maybe the BBEG and retinue have made themselves known.

Oh, sorry. Yeah, Big Bad Evil Guy/Girl.
My best guess here would be commanding officer at the Jaguar camp, though I've no idea why they would have shown up now.
Although... the earthquake/volcano bit seems to have affected quite a large area; it hit camp wildcat, maybe it destroyed the Jaguars' camp too. The higher ups fled, or decided to make a assault, believing it was some secret weapon.

Ah. In any case, hostile NPCs are still NPCs. Keep guessing. I'm onto the statuses now. Let's see if I can actually keep all that within one status...

Turn 161
------------
Spoiler: Actions (click to show/hide)
------------
Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
----------------
Wayside V. Some distance from the former location of the hill "Andrea's Furnace"

-I'm stumped. Any idea what to do with this?
-Nope. I thought you were the mechanic.
-And I thought six-armed centaurs did not exist. Now go away, you're blocking my light.

Janna spent the last ten minutes working on the dead engine, with little help from Rooster and little success. From her point of view, the group wasn't doing too good. Five people were on the ground near the truck - two incapacitated, three unconscious. Someone - Chaoticag was the name, she remembered - was doing something to one of the injured, probably working some of that magic they called "telekinesis". The big robot guy was talking to the new arrival, something out of the old Earth's classic UFO tales. They seem to have gotten along pretty well. There were so many strange things happening that Janna found the appearance of an alien only mildly surprising. The six-armed monstrocity behind her back was one of those things.

-Isn't this tube supposed to be attached?
-No, it's a secondary intake. Can you please leave the engine repair to me?

She worked in silence for a while. The truck's electric system was messed up badly, and there were only basic tools available. Globs of translucent pink gel were dropping from the cabin's roof, making everything even harder. One of the globs suddenly jumps up from the ground! Janna yelps in surprise and alarm, but soon realises what's wrong and angrily kicks the empty space next to her, hitting something hard.

-Ow! Hey, what's the big idea!?
-Serves you right. Can't you at least say something before creeping up like that?
-Like what? "Invisible man warning"?
-Why not? Works for me.

Grumbling something to himself, Boksi walks away with a handful of pink goo. Rooster chuckles, but makes a serious face when Janna looks at him.

-Need help?
-*sigh* No.

With renewed determination, Janna delved into the depths of the diesel engine and its surrounding circuitry, fixing problem after problem. There seemed to be no end to it, but suddenly she realised that she couldn't find any more problems to fix. Anxious, she climbed up into the driver's seat and flicked the ignition switch. Nothing happened.

-Oh for... Damn. What the hell is wrong with this thing?!

When she jumped down from the cabin and turned to the engine bay again, she was surprised to see Neo standing beside her. Surprised and alarmed, because Neo was hefting the thrice-accursed electrical staff in his hands. If it wasn't for him, this breakdown wouldn't have happened! Janna was about to throw a few witty insults in his direction, maybe a good punch too, but he calmly stopped her.

-I think I already told you...

With a swift motion, Neo stabbed the staff into the depths of the engine. A bright spark flashed along the staff, arcing off onto the truck's hull, and the engine came to life. It coughed, wailed protestingly, but immediately started. Janna looked at Neo with a silent question in her eyes.

-...this thing's battery is dead. It won't go unless you jolt it, it won't keep a charge.

Janna smiled faintly, and closed the engine bay hatch. Maybe things would start getting back to normal after all.

-Yeah. Thanks, I guess. You know, you'd be a much better person if you we.. OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT?

Stopped mid-sentence, Janna leaped away from the hauler. The pink goo on and around it was moving, seeping up and clumping together into small shapes. Rooster tried his best to calm her down.

-Don't worry, it's just our friend Zako. He's reas...sembling. Wow. Now, that's something you don't see every day.

Assembled on the roof of the hauler, cringing from pain and looking down upon the surprised onlookers, was Zako. Or rather, were Zako. Standing at most two feet tall, and each slightly smaller than the next, were four naked humans. Unaware of each other, they were slightly alarmed at the looks they were receiving.

-What?..
-What?..
-What?..
-What?..
------------
Background: [1+2]   You don't notice anything interesting, other than the most glaringly obvious things. Qwer'Ty goes analytic on everyone, and gives a few insightful comments about the team's efficiency. For example, he notes how Rooster could have tried evolving into something faster, how Korora could practice with his sword more, how Boksi would be better off mastering his ring powers, how LASD should start finding ways to be either more offensive or more protective, and et cetera, and et cetera. In other words, he managed to annoy just about everyone by telling them things that they most likely already knew themselves. He does provide a sound suggestion that Neo should be confined to the cabin so he can be watched, while Jay is better off on the back of the truck to cause less damage. Meanwhile, Zako notices the other three of him (simultaneously), and tries to come to terms with this new form. He realises that whatever he tries to do, he can only do one thing at a time. But he can send however many of him as he wants, and each has a share of his initial powers.

Locations:
Planet Wayside V:   The planet seems to be barren as a whole. The sky is green here, and the air is cold. Or maybe it's just autumn here.
Large Valley:   A rather dull and barren, though very large, rocky valley covered by reddish clay soil with patches of some unknown weeds or moss. Filled with broken rock and debris. Sloping mountains or plateaus many kilometers tall seem to surround it. A relatively narrow pass leads into the Vast Plain.
Sub-area 1: Starting Point. The place you initially appeared at.
Sub-area 2: First Contact. Where your truck was destroyed by an aerospace fighter (and later rebuilt, driven off elsewhere and crashed again). The disabled Wolf Trap is here.
Sub-area 3: Andrea's Furnace. Somewhere far north of Area 2 - the fighter crashlanded there. And subsequently exploded, leaving a large crater and killing the crew of the two scout buggies sent by Fusiliers. Then Andrea blew the place up along with a bigger convoy. And then Zako's hurricane, aided by a mysterious force, levelled it completely. All players are here.
Sub-area 4: Saramrakust Kosak. A great engraved slab of hard white stone east of the Furnace, that is the top of a buried obelisk that stands over the grave of the dwarf Kosak Sidasin Lokumzuden.
Sub-area 5: Unknown. A pillar of dark smoke rising northeast of the Furnace.
Fusiliers' camp "Wildcat":   A small military camp set up amidst the hills in the large valley. Something terrible might have happened there.
Vast Plain:   An enormous plain connected to the large valley by a relatively narrow passage. Its ground is different from that of the valley, but you don't know what it is yet. Might be a former ocean bottom.

========================
Welcome, the three new Zakos! Well, they're all new, actually. They're human, for one thing. Zako Prime is the hive mind above them all, but he can only make one set of them do something - those that are left unguided will perform basic "mindless drone" functions. Each will roll for the action attempted.
