This game of Multiworld Madness has grown too large for me to handle. What would you have me do?

Muster up remaining strength and complete the current chapter. Bring the game to a logical close, then reboot it.

Same as 1, but a whole new game will be started instead, still Multiworld, but no longer Madness.

Get just this last turn done and reboot the game. No point wasting energy if updating takes so long.

Just wait till it hacks into the communications and takes control of the destroyer. And then absorbs it.

Honestly, that would be the most awsome thing ever! We would sweep across the galaxy like a mechanical tyranid horde! :P

OK, what I want to do is jump my consciousness into JK's armor and take over.  But that's probably not a good idea, so instead what I'll do is carefully try to wake up.

This ain't good...

First, I lead any unarmed people away from the armor, so they don't get hurt or get in the way. Then I engage the armor in combat! I sweep it off it's feet with a mighty blast of air and if that doesn't work, I use my extra speed to distract it so that others may fight it better.

<joking>
I wonder what happens to the rest of the Universe when you auto-fail on a 5.
Everything's in balance and all... I wonder how something would auto-succeed on a 1?

sending some lightnings toward the armour, i try toget nearer. when i am near, i use my plasma cutters/hands to dig in the armour till i arrive at JK. or, if that isn't possible, ill just do as much damage as i can. like cutting a leg.

if that is too much, the you can take the lightnings away. the important part is plasma cutting the armour.

Considering this is an RTD reaching out into realistic territory, you can fail an action on a 5, even on a 6. Something that is completely impossible both for you and the universe will have no chance of succeeding. You can only succeed with a free action on a 1 or 2. In most cases there will be some schroedinger's or chekhov's gun to be employed that will make you fail. Considering that there's always the possibility of spontaneous total existence failure, you might find it advantageous to keep something with you that could be used to fail your action without dire consequences like that. The last part is of course a joke, since such a hyperbalanced situation is unlikely to come up with our cast of players being what it is.

Re: RTD - Multiworld Madness. Turn 109! Those purple shorts must've meant someth
« Reply #3697 on: February 01, 2009, 06:17:01 am »

Shouldn't we have LASD do that?
My ability stops creatures, not mechs. I could paralyse JK, which might stop the armor, but then I'd have to be able to see him as I think I might be able to:

I use my telescope to find a hole in the armor, trying to get a glimpse of JK (like his purple pants) to paralyse him and make him lay down arms stretched as he wants.

I'd like to keep your AI action because I liked the result. If I change it (even though it is only slightly different), I'll have to reroll. ...  Well alright, I'll go roll the thing... I can't believe I made so little progress in all this time. Even though this is a shorter turn... :-\

First: I pull myself back together and run after the female pilot's mech
Second: I climb up it and find a good spot to sit, before reloading and firing my rpg at  JKL's armour.

Damn, I should have posted it three hours ago! Stupid relatives and their all-important last minute changes to my schedule.

You were one good roll away from a decent set of premium hardware. :)

Turn 110
------------
Quote from: Neo1096
I help Jay Kayell gain control with moral support!
|   Tis a dangerous endeavor you attempt, but you know it's the only way to get a message across to JK. With great speed you rush toward the armor, avoid its flailing fists, and jump onto its torso. The surface is hard, but bumpy and uneven. You manage to grab onto a few protrusions, firmly affixing yourself to the spot. Even as the armor attempts to wipe you off its chest, you shout into the thick hull at the top of your lungs: "JAY! I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME!! FIGHT IT!!! WE'LL HELP YOU!!!" As much as you'd like to stay longer and provide more support, the armor's attempts at turning you into a layer of fine paste on its surface are getting dangerously close to success. You jump off a second before its massive fist smashes into the spot you've been holding onto. Wasting no more time, you put some distance between it and yourself, quite happy that none of the soldiers (who were showering the thing with slugs through the whole ordeal) accidently made a few extra holes in your skin. (as epic as that effort is... only a statistic bonus to JK's attempt)
Quote from: Frelock
I'll help JK overcome the armor's sentient...ness, using the sheer volume and power of the expansive stream of consciousness flowing through my mind to dominate the armor's thoughts.  Everyone is concentrating on defeating the rogue armor, so that should help somewhat.  Perhaps even my knowledge of the elven language will help me against that (theoretically) elven soul.
|   You tap into the streams of conscious and unconscious thought, and with great effort you manage to discern the chaos and rage coming from the one consciousness that you want to fight. Pouring every ounce of your power into the effort, you open a one-way mental link to the armor's mind, bombarding it with the collective stream of imagery of every person within 3 miles of your position. You cannot see it with your eyes closed, but the armor pauses for a brief moment, staggering as if some mighty force just delivered it a right hook into the face. It takes the beast some time to regain its wits... (overdrive effect propagates to armor, -2 concentration penalty instated)
Quote from: Jay Kayell
I use the link between me and the armor to crush it's sentience and take it under my control again. Then I lie down, arms streched out, in a non-threatening position.
|   Channeling your willpower through your mental link, you try to suppress the rampaging behemoth and regain control of the armor. Through the pummeling of projectiles against the metal hide you think you can hear Neo shouting to you, but the voice is faint and distant. You summon all the power you can muster in this state and focus it into a concentrated impulse, striking at the rebelling mind of the armor and attempting to subdue it. | An unbearable wave of pain surges through your body! You scream in agony when the needles embedded in your body begin to twist and wither! Suddenly you feel like being flung against the ground. The armor is flailing its limbs uncontrollably as it struggles to deal at least a tiny bit more damage to you, when suddenly it all ends. As the uncontrollable convulsions of the limbs cease and the armored hulk falls motionless to the ground, you realize that the armor's soul has been routed and its mind destroyed. Even as your body regenerates itself, the pain from the terrible wounds inflicted by the armor in its agony makes you go unconscious, lying limp inside a small chamber surrounded by tons of metal.
Quote from: Gantolandon
When everybody's helping JK, I try to use TK to temporarily immobilize his armor, to prevent it from wreaking havoc.
|   You attempt to focus your telekinesis around the armor in an attempt to contain it. But when you try to carefully form a defensive shell, your very nature takes offense at your subtle approach. The ground under your feet cracks up into tiny fragments when the massively energetic pulse of TK force surges through your hands and smites the frenzied armor! | Even the enormous mass of the armor can not withstand such force. The massive burst strikes it into the upper body and slams it against the ground, shattering its outer armored shell! The backlash from the blast blows you away, along with a few more people standing behind you. None of you are seriously hurt. | You continue your waking slumber. You think you saw a bright shiny speck get blown away by the blast, but you dismiss it, thinking it was some piece of metallic junk.
Quote from: Boksi
I sneak about and steal a few useful items in the confusion?
|   While everyone is engaging the rampaging armor, you quietly sneak off to the barracks. Sure enough, there is nobody here. You quickly apprehend the situation and raid the small military hardware storage in the far back. The net result? | A small military backpack containing a set of binoculars, two different handguns, and another light armor jacket. You barely manage to make off with even so little, because the quartermaster returned sooner than you anticipated, and you had to beat a hasty sneak-retreat.
Quote from: korora
But that's probably not a good idea, so instead what I'll do is carefully try to wake up.
|   You try to activate yourself, to no avail. Without any other options, you wait patiently, hoping for someone to repair your body enough for you to get back online.
Quote from: Zako
I lead any unarmed people away from the armor, so they don't get hurt or get in the way.
|   You approach a bunch of unarmed technicians, in an attempt to guide them away from the ongoing battle. It works, sorta. Upon seeing you, the already-terrified techs turn pale and disappear into the nearest building. Those that didn't faint on the spot at least.
Quote from: chaoticag
   I look for a railgun.
|   | You run past the vehicle yard and spot a small car with a mean-looking gun set into an open turret. The helpful panel reveals the gun to be a Light Gauss Rifle - a weapon that accelerates metal slugs with powerful magnetic fields. Without thinking too long, you jump onto the car and rip the gun out of the turret, ammo feed and all. Aiming it at the metal back of the rampaging armor in the distance, you pull the trigger. Nothing happens. You examine the gun again. The panel says: "Unpowered.". Turns out it kinda needed to be connected to the car for power supply. Nice job breaking it, hero.

|   You rush out the tent and up to the armor. Immediately evaluating the situation, you try to jump onto it to use your plasma jets. Unfortunately, your first plasma cutting experiment will have to be postponed, because something violently hits you in the back! | The impact is surprisingly soft, and feels a lot like a TK shockwave. Come to think of it, it probably was a TK shockwave. Wait, is that ground? Why is it several meters away and speeding along so fast? Oh sh... | You lightning-form yourself and come to a stop almost a mile away from the camp. At least you weren't hurt.
Quote from: Rooster
Considering Zako is at least interesting case, I try to figure out how HIS regeneration works, so that I can figure out my own
|   You rush after Zako, approach him, and try to examine him. Soon it dawns on you that what you're doing is rather useless. Curiously enough, you are both carbon-based lifeforms with cells as the basis of the organism's structure, so for both of you regeneration works exactly the same. All you can understand is that his regeneration has been sped up with some obscure hormone-based catalysts, but you cannot replicate it yourself without better tools to inspect him.
Quote from: LASD
I use my telescope to find a hole in the armor, trying to get a glimpse of JK (like his purple pants) to paralyse him and make him lay down arms stretched as he wants.
|   Even though you can easily see JK's body from where you stand, he is already unconscious and your power has no effect.
Quote from: Kashyyk
I pull myself back together and run after the female pilot's mech
|   You attempt to reassemble your body, but with so much damage to take care of your lack of skill starts to show. You are completely lost in the many pieces your leg is broken into, and fail to accomplish any healing.

NPC Actions:
Allied:
Quote from: Kosak Sidasin Lokumzuden
The dwarf yells a battle cry and leaps onto the armor!
|   He leaps into the air, and the armor's wide fist slaps him away like a ping-pong ball. | The dwarf is sturdy enough though, and survives his flight and landing relatively unharmed.
Neutral:
Quote from: Occupants of the camp/dropship
Every armed man (and woman) near the armor is shooting at it. The others do something else.
|   They laid down quite the wall of fire. Handheld laser pistols and rifles, semiauto and full-auto weaponry, even some of the heavier anti-mech rocket launchers - everything was quickly brought together and used against the armor. | The laser beams leave reddish glowing spots on the ferro-fibrous plating, and the bullets ever so slowly eat away at it, but the armor's rage cannot be so easily stopped by this force. Even a direct hit by a man-portable missile launcher barely left a charred mark on its back.
Quote from: Jack
He coordinates the fire of other soldiers near him, making them shoot for the thing's head.
|   Nobody really heeds his advice, some just don't hear him. Everyone keeps firing haphazardly.
Quote from: Female pilot
She arrives at the scene and unleashes some laser fire on the armor.
|   The armor has already fallen by the time she steers her ostrich-like mech to the place. Seeing people already starting to approach it, she doesn't want to risk hitting friendlies and does not fire.
Quote from: DCMS mech
The humanoid mech moves in for a melee charge.
|   The japanese pilot clearly decides to pummel some sense into the rampaging hulk. He charges towards it, but suddenly some powerful force throws it away , leaving the mech to try and redirect its momentum elsewhere. Finally the pilot activates the jumpjets and gracefully soars off, landing somewhere out of view.
Enemy:
Quote from: Frenzied Armor
In the last moments of its existence, the armor flails around wildly, not letting the boldest infantrymen get close.
|   It thrashes and spins around, smiting away the dwarf as it tries to jump it, and demolishing another pile of crates. | The falling crates crush several nearby techs and soldiers, causing a wave of panic among the barely-prepared infantry.

Environment:
Planet Wayside V:   The planet seems to be barren as a whole. The sky is green here, and the air is cold. Or maybe it's just autumn here.
Large Valley:   A rather dull and barren, though very large, rocky valley covered by reddish clay soil with patches of some unknown weeds or moss. Filled with broken rock and debris. Sloping mountains or plateaus many kilometers tall seem to surround it.
Sub-area 1: The place you initially appeared at.
Fusiliers' main camp:   A small military camp set up amidst the hills in the large valley. Mechs patrol its perimeter.
Main tent: A rather large tent set up in a flat area amidst the hills. Numerous communication antennae protrude from various places. Several mechs guard this as well.
Barracks area: A number of simple metal contructions that are used to house troops and treat the wounded when necessary. There are many soldiers and mechwarriors here.
Field hospital: A small, sturdy, and tidy building containing several long rooms with beds and a small stock of medical supplies. Frelock is here.
Vehicle park: Though most of the machinery still resides in the dropship, some of it has been parked outside in preparation for possible attacks. A number of mechs are here along with some tanks and trucks. It's patrolled by mechs and soldiers. Chaoticag is here. Kashyyk is somewhere around here too.
Maintenance yard: A small area outside of the dropship that the 'techs use to do small repairs. Populated by techs, contains some spare parts and tools. LASD is repairing Korora here with the help of some techs. The Frenzied Armor is near here, along with Gantolandon, Zako, Neo, and the dwarf.
"Overlord"-class Dropship "Bullrun": A big egglike spaceship designed to go to and from a planet's surface. Armed with several turrets and protected by thick armor. It's been attacked on its descent and is undergoing repairs.
------------
Background: [3+2]   Andrea notices the wreck of what seems to be another Dropship in the distance. Some specks that might just be cargo vehicles move from it toward the main camp. With chaoticag rather far away, he cannot identify anything useful.
