May as well throw my hat into the ring.
Spoiler: Phantom Ape (click to show/hide)

Not actually related to true apes. The Phantom Ape is a rare find indeed. Thanks to its reclusive nature and low population, the Phantom Ape almost never appears in large groups.

Hmmmm, I am assuming you got this idea from Red Alert 3. Great game, the soviet attack bear is awesome.

Actually, it was more inspired by the Ghost Bears' emblem in the Battletech Universe.

P.S. Nonanonimous, "Переносить! Я не говорят по-русски! Ах нет!" Wtf did you try to write here? Random words sequence?

Close, I used google translate to try and get "Bear!  I do not speak Russian!  Oh no!"

Also, any comments on my contributions?

They look interesting, but maybe you could explain what they are a bit more?

It translated Bear as a verb :)))
Also note that russian verbs have endings so it's wrong even as a verb :).

"Медведь! Я не говорю по-русски! О нет!" <- right.

Current version of creatures with commentary:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Basically, kakos are scorpion-monkeys, the stonehopper is a funny-looking abomination, the Clatterslasher is an aboveground GCS without webbing but with several large sharp instruments of death. And yes, it can speak and learn; it's that dangerous.

Bodytypes:

I haven't actually tested anything yet though. Sorry about that. But hey, you're the main producer Nonan, aren't you? >:3

Thanks for that, it should make more sense now.

Oh, and submitted for your approval, because I know nothing of these 'zards.'  My first guess at creating a fire zard.

Well, to be fair, I haven't actually tested anything either.  And at the moment, the only creature I've come up with is a reference to (Read:  theft of) an enemy or two from Earthbound.  And uh...  Uh...

Say, can I call you Nonni?

That's a common nickname for men named Jón or Jónas here in Iceland.

@Zard: Why the NOBREATHE tag? Also, it was more like SIZE:6 I think. The size of a dwarf. Also way too much fat. Finally, it doesn't have paws. Perhaps you should disable swimming too. That is all.

PS: And yes, it is a lion. >:3

I don't see why not.

The NOBREATHE tag was there because I feared they might drown in the magma, even if they were immune to its heat.  As far as the size thing,
Poision zard. His bites bear stunning venom. size 6.
Fire zard. He spits fireballs. size 5.
Frost zard. He bites with COLD attack. size 6, layering 150.
Black zard. He is bigger (size 8 ), his bite paralyzes and he has a nice damblock (3).

And the paws and fat were there in the example Deon posted.

Awesome. Inspired me to make a new creature.
Spoiler: The Goushbi (click to show/hide)

Decidedly alien-looking vermin. Originally endemic to an island dominated by plains, they were spread throughout the world by a Dwarven caravan that had captured a few as curiosities and was later attacked. A goushbi's eyes are located in its hands, so the species has learned to walk on its fingers for lack of legs. They are incredibly social animals, and litters are typically large, so an active colony can spring up in almost no time at all.

Note: The :STONEHOPPER: body tag does not mean that the two species are related. I just reused it to avoid cluttering the body file with an identical entry.

EDIT:Just generated a world using only races, domestic animals, and bestiary creatures. Should be interesting.

I've managed to make a few observations about the new ecosystem. First, my unarmed huntsdwarf took down two Poison Zards, but has suffered a red upper body wound and the loss of a chunk of torso. Secondly, Dwarves will not hunt Phantom Apes (which I didn't expect to see at all on my map, much less in abundance). Is this because of the [CAN_LEARN] tag? Finally, the landscape is striped with Blood Ray webs. They seem to develop a cluster spread out over a medium-sized area and patrol it, leaving occasionally to hunt. I think one caught and took down a bimkċtâk. So far, it seems stable. I'll check some new areas out.

EDIT: Phantom Apes need reworking. They're everywhere, and they fill up valuable wildlife slots. I think it could be fixed if [BIOME:ANY_TEMPERATE] was replaced with more specific tags like [BIOME:FOREST_TEMPERATE_CONIFER] and [BIOME:FOREST_TROPICAL_CONIFER] and removing the mountain tag altogether. You could say they have some obsession with pines, and we'd have more diversity everywhere else.
EDIT2: It works. Haven't seen hide nor hair of them since. Lots of areas are still empty, though.

Oh good, people are still interested in this.

Well, one thing is that the maximum population on any given site for the phantom apes is 18, there was a space in [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE], and they're only children for 2 years.  I don't know why they don't hunt them, it might be [CAN_LEARN], it might be [SEVERONBREAKS].

Hmm...  Maybe I should take the [WEBBER] tags off of them?

On an added note, I've already got some vermin Pokemon inspired by boredom, but does anyone else think it'd be a hoot to have non-vermins with the trainable tag, especially if they ended up in some player's arena?

Not so hot on the pokemon idea. Could work as a separate mod, though. As for the webbing, I think it's a nice little ecological quirk. Sort of like a nest.

Here's the error log in case you want to do some cleaning.

Well at least part of that is motivation enough for me to make this modbase compatible.
