I Found a use for Children!

And its not food, They can remove Constructions! Did anyone else know this?

yup, they can do that. so can nobility. Children will do any of the 'all dwarves' options such as harvesting plants (and quite a few are very social planters, by the time they grow up- make sure to turn that task on). and sometimes they go legendary early.

Too bad they have ADD or something. They never finish removing a construction so a real dwarf has to come and do it after they've gotten bored.

There are some irritations to this: e.g. when I want to remove some remote construction outside the fortress proper.  They make the children walk out there and are just inviting visits from kidnappers.  I once had exactly such an incident.  Luckily a hunter doing hauling (out of wildlife) passed by and stopped the kidnapper before he can make if off the map.  Now I had to station a squad near outdoors deconstruction job sites just because of this children behavior.

It's a good practise too because nappers are not the only things that are invited by heading topside.

i read somwhere that if the snatchers get away with children the siges will be stronger.

so, i think deconstructing walls outside is a *real* good idea.

so use for children : goblin lure?  Hmm, ye know, that actually doesn't sound so bad, if it can be confirmed  ;D

With Dwarf Foreman you can get them to do other jobs as well  ;D
