I got a nice offer from SAM holdings as well. I decided to leave TRPHouse and join Urists Mountainhomes, though. Food is starting to cost more than my wages, so it was time for a change, but I'd rather work with you guys ;)

Omaga: in re: the cheapo food, hang on to it for a few days, then donate as much as you can to our two inactive workers on the 13th. ;)

(If we keep them alive, they'll boost our productivity just for being on staff, even if they don't work.)

I've been a member of eRepublik for about 2 weeks now, but I'm afraid I signed up before I knew about this topic, and am living in eUK. I couldn't sign up as Ryo (I think someone already had that name), so I plonked down a second initial and am now called "Ryo E".

I don't think I'm going to be moving to Thailand though, because I'm happy with my current job and the familiar GBP.

It works for me.  :-\

Also, thailand seems a bit better then USA, not even a day after I moved there someone gave me 5 gifts and the jobs pay well, food is cheap and the pay is good.

Now to get another gold so I can start a newspaper called: "The Daily Thai Rub"

Don't let that greeting fool you, Ridler. The eThai economy is a mess. We have massive labor shortages, and poorly allocated workers on top of that. Basically, we need more people. That's been the number one issue for ages here.

I still refuse to log onto "eRepublik", but I guess I'm...sorta, semi-demi-whatever about the economy of eTahiland. So I'm going to ask...

What's the main point of the economy? I'm still stuck before V1, so there may be different circmustances, but...if a person can buy enough food to eat and enough gifts to give out to other people, then that's it, right? Just increase our wellness so that we don't die?

We won't need military or hospitals if we appease eIndonesia and ePakistan enough, and houses are, you know, just a a luxury. Even if houses can be sold, they'd likely be of low quality, meaning all we'd be doing is creating entire slums. And the point of a house is to ensure that less and less food need to be bought.

What's the point of the eRepulik economy if it is not to ensure the wellness of society does not drop to 0? I admit, having higher wellness means higher productivity, meaning more food can be produced, meaning that food prices will drop and survival becomes a tad easier. But it doesn't matter if the total Wellness of Society is 10, 50 or 100, it's still is above 0, meaning that eThais would still be living. And if there are people out there are too lazy to click on "WORK IN SWEATSHOP", and then "BUY CHEAPEST FOOD", then I don't think all the help in the world will ever save those lazy eThais.

...Charmin's still active, right?

Charmin is indeed still active selling food at .3 THB a unit. Q1 food is .1 THB a unit and the only Q3 supplier is selling at 3 THB. The Q3 supplier happens to be TNT controlled. Urist's Mountain homes is producing Q3 houses, there are at least 2 other Q2 providers and 2 Q1 providers. Gifts are starting to become expensive due to lack of diamonds. Weapons are about average cost with at least 1 Q3 supplier. Moving tickets are likewise cheap. Unfortunately companies are having a hard time finding workers.

Well, Servant Corps, the big change that V1 brought was raw materials that are used up every time manufactured products (like food or gifts) are made.  Separate companies need to be set up to harvest these natural resources and its this sector of the economy which is suffering the most.

That said, I've been considering taking up a job in the grain industry because it seems that a massive grain shortage is nigh, and I want to try and prevent it, but I'm not quite sure I should abandon Charmin, especially when there are only 5 or 6 active workers.

Okay, so the main problem is the lack of employees in raw resources...And we can't really import raw materials money will be taken out of the eThailand economy, so that's right out.

Karlito: One obivous solution, of course, is to just create a Grain company out of thin air, but that seems too expensive. Can individuals buy Grain? If so, have anyone considered leaving eThailand to much more prosperous locations, buying Grain from there, and then shipping it wholescale to the SO (and avoiding those pesky "import taxes" in the process)? I'm sure the admins prohibited it beforehand, but it doesn't hurt to inquire if that is possible, right?

Other than that, I got nothing. We got a shortage on the market. The only hope I could see is gaining control over the economy and lowering taxes to a very low level, such as taxes on buying Food and Raw Materials. By lowering the costs to afford Raw Materials and Food, you should be able to increase living conditions to everyone. But the anti-Rockman9 Front already gained control over eThailand, so you must have already begun such a reform process.

Taxes are being fixed across the board. Truthfully we need to increase the income tax in food so more people leave the food industry and go to raw materials. Still we are settling down despite TNT making disparaging remarks about the cost of goods every single day.
