Fighting costs 10 wellness each attempt, so basically only fight once and heal until you have 100 wellness

This didn't work for me. I tried to fight only three times so I'd be at 52 wellness, then healed, but I only got 30 wellness back, not 50. I only ever get as much wellness as I've spent fighting that day.

Yes, I noticed this too,unfortunately.. It used to be that the ultimate method of getting wellness was fighting and using a hospital to heal back over your original wellness. The wealth of nations rested upon training wars to keep the workforce productive, and all was well. Alas, it appears that in the last 8 months they nerfed hospitals,  .
(It's still worth fighting, though, as you should still get xp along with military rank)
