You can't whore in F3.

Sex, or anything related to it, for americans, is worse than seeing heads being blown to pieces with a flying eye hitting your face.

So... when somebody asks me what I did this evening... I can safely say

"Oh, I read some random crap that random strangers wrote on the internets. It saved me fifty bucks."

* Agdune fumes over the sex-phobia+gore-lust

Sorry. Pet peeve of mine. A few years ago I'd have said that Germany had it right, but then reality hit me and I realised that they don't replace any of that video game violence with sex, ending up in total, heavily censored blandness.

Might try out the game somewhere first before buying it, that's for sure. Also, they reverted to bottlecaps?

I don't want sex scenes or boobs flashing around, but being able to be a porn actor in Fallout2 was one of the funny things. They didn't try to hide you from that aspect of survival. In F3, you pretty much meet one whore and one crazy goth. That's it.

A lot of the problem is, Fallout 3 in it's own consideration is a great game, but it just gets terrible that it lacks a lot of the dark humour, instead going for dark realities. Thus no pornstars or large bustling cities. I mean rivet city is supposed to be the shiznit, yet these people barely hang on.

to the guy who took out an entire base of supermutants with just the pistol and a low skill lvl....chances are you took on something way to big for your beggining character. i had much higher stats then you when i ran into a supermutant and super mutant brute. they ambushed me with a minigun and got me down to super crippled....so i went beserk and ate everything i had, got addicted to like, 5 things, took my flamer, roasted the brute with all my fuel....still didnt die, shot him with another 15 machine gun bullets, he finnally died, then fought with the other supermutant and left there barely alive and with nothing to restore my health.....at least i got the minigun

but seriously if you made it through a supermutant stronghold with a small gun while protecting someone, then you got seriously lucky.

problem here, is that nobody told you how to enjoy the game, so you get pissed when you see its diffrent from fallout 1 and 2

you run around, shoot certain parts of monsters using the auto-target(attempt anyway!)

or shoot fps style!
or with a combination
(its actually really badass, and does use the action point system somewhat!)

you can plant mines, use fanciful melee weapons, or use "The Fat Man"
"retro"

you can build certain awesome weapons
"retro"

creatures level with you, untill you finish the local plot.
idk

stat leveling system- probably retro

Can anyone playing Fallout 3 post some quest spoilers? I want to see how that got implemented. I want to see the dialogues, and if there are any quests that can be solved without violence.

I'm paraphrasing, but one of the quests was going to a library and finding about history or something, the dialogue went something like this:

:So, what of interest did you find in the library that could help us become better at surviving in the nuclear post-holocaust world?

>[Intelligence Check] There was a lot of books with stuff written on them.

:Golly, you're so smart!

I keed, I keed because I love! But seriously the dialogue was almost exactly like that. Now mind ya, I think there's a good game there somewhere, but the conversations just ain't it. It should be easy to mod in a more intelligent (or 'elitist' as the republicans say these days) dialogue.

There are actually a lot of quests that can be solved without violence.  I'll tell you what, when I get home tonight I'll jot down some dialog if no one else has as an example of how to get through a quest without violence, and as an example of some terribly written stuff.  The more I play, the more I enjoy the game, and that makes following the story even more tragic because of the writing.

I'm praying more and more for a CS release.

The cool thing about quests in F3 that can be resolved nonviolently is that they are never overtly stated (least of all in the quest log) that you have an option. You will just be told to "Kill x" and it takes some work on your part to figure out how to resolve things without a blood bath. Tenpenny Towers, for example...

Anyways, this game is pretty fun and my only real complaint is the general lack of quests. It's definitely an enjoyable experience (with memorable moments and characters even!). No, it isn't Fallout 1. But neither is Fallout 2. They are all different games from each other, really. 1 and 2 just look more similar.
