They probably like the game as a standalone, but hardly as a true successor to Fallout 3.

Just a nice shooter in nice enviroments; you must admit that quests while being sometimes stupid and pretty scarce (I expected much more questlines/sede quests) add a nice feeling.
The setting is nice; although it's not our "wasteland" from Fallout series: I see no deserts, just ruins, and the area is quite small for the real "fallout" feel.

Deathclaws are too slow IMO.
I've made a weapon of one's hands.

A few pictures of self-made weapons:

1) Haha, welcome Freddy Krueger! :) This is a gauntlet made of Deathclaw's hand:

2) OMG! FIRESWORD! They are trying to persuade us that we can make such sword-torch from motorcycle parts and a blade from lawn mower:

And a few funny moments:
3) These guys REALLY wanted to get into the Vault:

And it's funny how the bones are burned to ashes and the paint is not affected :).

4) What a funky pijamas suit:

(+10 speech +1 luck :) and it's called "nasty nightwear")

P.S. I must say it's D.C. Wasteland game, but NOT fallout 3. :D

Yes, taken out of Fallout context, it could be a good game. But I will never put up with it being called Fallout 3.

I think that's because of the difference in location.  Fallout 1 and 2 were set in California, while this takes place in Washington D.C.

From what I've seen, this might be a good game. I've played Fallout 1 and 2, but I'm not going to let a name ruin my enjoyment of this game.

Here's to hoping my PC can handle it. I went about downloading a copy for test purposes, but halfway through, the powers that be wizened up and doesn't let me download large files from certain sites anymore. So... here I sit waiting for Steam to finish downloading.

We already had lolalien blaster and +2 str power armor items before :). Now there're more items which give attributes (usually +1; to agi or to end; depends on the suit, also there's a lot of items with +5 to some skill; I still can't see how USUAL HAT can give you +1 PER... I must get it really wrong).

Yeah I know it. However F series was about orange/red cliffs, funki cacti and brahmin shit everywhere plus huge deserted areas and geckos everywhere... It just feels different; if they had the game in California more Fallout fans should get into it easier; it still has a lot of elements which fit into theme nicely.

I've been de-motivating myself ever since i heard bethseda got their hands on fallout, so that i did not get my hopes up.
But I still dont like it.
The combat sucks, to mix stats and shooting in first person feels bad.
The voiceacting feels lame quite often and the actual conversations feels dumb with the blatantly obvious responses like; Option 1: Yes i will help you without expecting reward cause pure goodness radiates from my every orfice.(and i will get rewarded anyway)
Option 2: What's the pay?
Option 3: I kill you, rob you and then make a little dance on your corpse infront of your children.
Gone are the carefully worded responses that made think of what kind of response will this get me.
Items with stats increases is no good, not if they exist everywhere.
Basicly, the game is not fallout but reminds me too much of it to ignore it and theres that nagging thought in the back of my head saying this is the only game i will ever get... I'll just go back to play Fallout 1&2 now.

Let me preface this by saying I love Fallout 1 and 2.  I've been playing them since my Freshman year of high school, and have run through both of those games many, many times.

With that said, Fallout 3 is sometimes buggy, occasionally maddening, and a hell of a lot of fun.  Yes, it's Fallout.  It's arguably a better Fallout.  Why's that?  Because it upgraded with the times.  For as much as I love the first two games, and for as fun as they, they really aren't GOOD games.  They're buggy to the point of being unplayable (like my first run through Fallout 2), they're easily cheated (like the Glow Glitch in Fallout 1 to max stats), the dialog isn't magically better (God, far from it, especially with all the "witty" things like Cheesy Poofs and talking Death Claws and Mike Tyson references in Fallout 2) and the choices you're given suddenly "trickier" or whatever you're looking for.  It's still quite easy, out of the dialog tree, to know what will happen given what you pick.

Bethesda did a smart thing by moving the location to DC, because you're no longer confined to Black Isle's version of Fallout.  It's the same game world, with enough similarities to say, "Sure, I recognize this stuff", while still allowing for different things.  This backlash from the old guard seems to be, really, a fight between new and old, between change and sameness.

I hate change as much as the next person, but in this instance I think it worked out for the best.

If you remember there was even a perk which allowed you to directly see "bad" and "good" answers.

If there's seriously the three 'I help you <3' 'Neutral man' 'Burn in hell!' choices for nearly every conversation, don't even try to compare fallout 1&2 and fallout 3 dialouge. And that perk really only worked for the most obvious bad answers. "You think it's right to enslave human beings?" kinds of things.

Power armor was a mechanical suit, it's very easy to understand why you would become stronger or have more hitpoints. But can you explain a hat that makes you luckier? Why does a hat effect what's going to happen when you pull that lever over there? Or a jacket that makes you more perceptive to your surroundings? Does the jacket talk to you? Are you schizophrenic?

I'll concede that point.  It is a pretty silly thing and seems to be a hold over from their fantasy settings, and the only explanation I can come up with is that it helps round out the gimped skill points.  Since tagged skills only offer an immediate bonus and not the double-point increase of the first two games, they had to give players SOME way to increase their skills up to a reasonable level.

More games need to let you play as a schizophrenic.  VtM: Bloodlines, as bugged out as it was, pulled that off in spades.

Shades in FO2 gave +1 charisma or something like that. It made perfect sense at least :P

Go figure that Bethesda would come up with lame-ass RPG-style nonsense.

Yeah, I don't like that thing too. But it's not a game-breaker.
