Morrowind also eventually fell to the thing (completed in 16 minutes?), but I suspect the alchemy is to blame.
Actually, it was the three 'scrolls of icarian flight' included as a joke by the developers that allowed crafty players to beat the game within 6 minutes.

Oblivion annoyed the hell out of me.  Fallout Tactics did not.  My only worry about Fallout 3 is that the combat system might suck... still I haven't preordered the game yet.

Oblivion was hella boring to be honest....it's a shame that the old party+turn based RPGs are not popular anymore, or at least the game devs can't be arsed to release games like those.  :-\

I know I could look this up, but I'm playing DF right now and I'm lazy.  Do we know for sure that the Oblivion "World Levels As You Do" douchebaggery is not in Fallout 3?

Confirmed, level scaling is out.

Actually, it's still there, but in lighter form. That is, there are areas with a certain level range and once you enter them, they're set as close to your level as the range allows and remain that way till the end.

While I doubt it could be as terrible as Oblivion's no-challenge level scaling, these are the people who fucked up level scaling which worked just fine throughout the whole TES series till TES IV.

There was level scaling in Morrowind, but it was done so well I didn't even notice it until I played around in the Construction Set and noticed all the ninja monkeys floating around.

There's more dumb shit coming from Bethesduh this way.

I'm glad I didn't miss the party where we spit on FO3, I simply knew one will crop up here.
God, I just hope it will flop, if it sets a new industry "standard" like ME did, CRPGs are doomed.

Oh good, Harold's a tree.

Next we find Dogmeat as a boulder 10 minutes down the road.

They turned the joke about Bob the tree into some kind of freaky ass tumor thing worshipped as a god? And he's magical? How the hell did Harold get to Washington D.C anyway?

It's important to wear lots of face paint while you program. And you can type with your long Gene Simmons tongue.

Isn't it the game's job to make it so that as you go further in the game, the enemies get harder, however as you level, you are more capable against any specific enemy? I'd rather not change my difficulty slider except to change the difficulty of the game.

There were mods that fixed it but it felt like the levels were still wrong.  That's something Bethesda was supposed to work out before they shipped the game.

no because if you only got good against certian enemies it would be hell. in morrowind the expansion pack. the one with the ice fortress, i was a theif and couldnt hide, so i had to leap up on top of ice and rapid attack that stupid ice golem thing for 30 minutes straight. best armor high lvls. thing could of turned around and one hit killed me. in fact it did about 20 times befor i went beserk and found out that if you whack it over and over it turns chicken.

so as you see theives CANNOT kill warrior specialists unless the AI is bland. thats like trying to kill an archer who is faster as a warrior....if its smart enough to keep its distance you will never kill it.
