yeah, it looks pretty good to me, too.

looks pretty true to the serise, too:

- character development is the same as through the whole series.
- color palate is the same as from the whole series.
- pauseable combat with called shots.
- even the same green-screen with scanlines kind of computer interface on the called shots.
- meaningfull choices with different outcomes (wither or not to nuke a city.  presumeably its gone after you nuke it).

expounding on that one a bit, it goes DIRECTLY to the original inspiration behind fallout, being Wasteland.  from the developer comments on Wasteland, "dont expect to check out any books if you blow up the library."  you could blow up buildings with an antique howitzer in that one...

- same dark sense of humor.  see how that guy flapped his arms and panicked when the live grenade was planted in his pocket?

i mean sure, theres no turn based overhead tactical squad based combat.  but if thats the only thing that defines fallout for you, maybe you would rather enjoy one of the dozzens of xcom clones instead?

im really looking forward to this one, it looks like bethesda did a good job.

Generic Level ups and similar colors make a game a good successor? Wow, where have I been? And the choices in Fallout are not as black and white as 'Blow up this city or don't', they generally had some kind of subtle effect that would lead into even more major progressions, having simple choices like 'Blow up or don't' does not mean that a game is free-formed.

With the interface, just because it's wearing the same clothing doesn't make it  a good sequel.

I'm not saying I want Fallout 1.5. I'm saying this game is not fallout.

If it were named something other than fallout and wasn't put out there as the sequel, I'd have about a thousand less problems with it, but Bethesda decided to fuck over another fanbase with their terrible development and surprisingly good marketing department.

most of your preconceptionous judgements are related to the teasers vids.
now ask your self: what wuld you put into this vids?
10 minutes of dialogues? strange humor eastereggs? the solution of the storry?

i guess if you think about, you will come to : fancy gfx, nice weapons, and maby (just to satisfy the few remaining fans of the 10 jears old ancestor) some frames of the combat system.
thats at last what i wuld put into the teasers. and its what ive seen within the teasers. so... lets all wait and see what wee will get for our bandwith. money

Have you ever played Oblivion? Have you compared it to the travesty that is the Fallout 3 have been shown? Notice any similarities? We can tell what we can expect by looking at Bethesda's other products. Not to mention the interviews in which the developers have betrayed the fact they have no idea what the first two games were really like or what the subject matter was about. In their mind, it was 'a killing spree in Apocalypseland with rocket launchers and cool super mutants'.

You guys aren't from NMO, are you?

This game looks great and you know damn well you're going to buy it or download a torrent anyway. Don't lie.

Haha. God I hate that place.

I'd also like to point out that Fallout 3 is startlingly similar to Van Buren in most regards. It's my opinion that if the team who made Fallout made Fallout 3, it wouldn't be enough for diehard fans.

I'm just treating this as something that could possibly be enjoyable but if not oh well. It's not the end of the world cos I can always go play Fallout anyways!

In summary:
This isn't fallout.
Nope. It's Fallout 3. Doesn't mean it's better, just different.

You guys expect too much out of a sequel. Seriously, either wait to see what the game is like (Don't judge shit based on teaser videos) or don't get the game. Bitching solves nothing. If the game was made by the same company, in the same decade, then sure, some raging of this caliber would be appropriate. But you haven't even touched the game yet, how do you know it will suck? So it's a different style, try it out. If you never tried new things, you wouldn't be on the DWAAAAARF FORTRESS forums anyway.

I'm not judging the game based on some bullshit teasers that are more than likely scripted, I'm basing it on bethesda's track record.

What? Morrowind and Oblivion were enormously fun and successful games. Like some of the most fun, incredible sandbox games ever made. If you can't admit that then just admit you have an unreasonable bias against them and be done with it. I can name a dozen games companies with far, far worse track records than Bethesda.

I mean, who else would you rather be making a Fallout game? EA? Sega?

Just because a review says a game is good doesn't make it true, this is what happened with both morrowind and Oblivion, with Morrowind being a moderately good game and with Oblivion being a pile of hype with nothing going for it but Bloom.

I'd like it if noone except for Black Isle made it, too bad that's far out of the question.

Actually looking through the game it might not be that bad, from what I've seen, not brilliant but not bad either. At least I think it might be better then oblivion which coddled you and treated you like a child giving you the choice of numerous linear quests to try. Ugh that game sucked, but I'm somewhat worried about the whole combat system, it looks a little... Sucky, they appear to have gotten rid of most close combat.
