Yeah, I'm playing the full demo. Or was playing. Another 3 days game. Meh. I'm gonna wait for decent mods and expansions before buying it. As of now, it seriously lacks content imo.

It doesn't seem like it's going to be anywhere near the 100+ hours Bethesda promised, but it's not one of those 20-minute games, either.
Nope, it's more like a 5 hours game. Even doing all side quests. There just isn't much there. It's a wasteland after all.

But you can always waste time exploring 'dungeons'.
You're doing something really wrong. There're 150+ locations and most of them have small quests.
The main quest is quite short if you're playing on easy/normal, but it's not 5 hours, mind you. There's a way to skip the most questline if you know where to go, but this thing was in fallout 2 too. If you play normally and take sidequests... Well, I have 30+ hours of constant quest-completing already.

P.S. Did you see Harold? One of the most enjoyable places of the game IMHO :).
And Dogmeat is neat. Robot is a bit clumsy, but good companion... There's a lot of things to do. But the mods should be to improve it.

The Harold bit was just plain stupid IMO.

Really? And what did you expect from that mutant with a tree in his head? I was very happy to see my old friend again, even in such form. Was it stupidier than toilet BOOM in Fallout 2 or multi-part Master from Fallout 1? :) This is what makes fallout.

Most of them? Most of them don't even have any NPCs (even more don't have interactable NPCs) and serve as looting spots or dungeons.

P.S. Did you see Harold? One of the most enjoyable places of the game IMHO :).
Actually, it sucked.

No.

Definately yes. There was nothing stupid about a person who spent a long time in the vats and that turned into a "the thing" esque being. There is something stupid about a ghoul carrying a tree on his head till it grows him into the ground instead of, say, trimming it or removing it so that it doesn't overgrow him.

I'm not sure why people keep getting upset about most of the Super Mutants being stupid? I thought that was the major plot point and problem in the first Fallout (that the Master couldn't produce enough intelligent Super Mutants). Correct me if I am wrong.

I honestly don't understand most people's problem with this game. I've also noticed some people getting upset about themes and elements that were present in the previous titles (Fire sword is implausible but mini chainsaw knife is ok? The wasteland looks too much like a boring wasteland?).

Anyways. Good game. Not amazing, but most games aren't. I've had a lot of enjoyable moments and even (gasp) enjoyed some of the characters, quests, and dialogue.

The thing that bothers me are all the morons going around giving this game 10/10 and saying 'The best fallout game ever' with no experience of the previous.

People gave Fable 2 10s... though I bet they didn't even finish the game and just assumed the rest of the game was going to be just as good or better (they were sorely mistaken)

The moral of the story is people will give whatever darn rating they want to a game

I didn't see Harold, but I found pretty much all (without the location perk) locations I bothered heading to. Been to every vault that were listed, found a few locations with NPC quests, some of which appeared in the ending movie and it was still pretty short.

There was a huge area that was pretty much without content, around NW of 101. It was sad walking all over that place without spotting a single triangle to go to.

There aren't very complex side quests, most of them are done in a step or two with the exception of the tutorial 'survival guide' quests.

Having played F1 and 2 before, I was naughty and had CHA 10, AGL 10, and energy weapons. The game obviously was easy even at normal. I was saddened to find out they capped skills and stats, which was the same thing they did with morrowind and oblivion, huge let down.

There was also a huge lack of weapon variety with most ammo types having either 1 or 2 weapons assigned to them. Not to mention sniping felt very non-fallout like. Long range sniping was close to impossible with VATS not even toggling on. Most of the time you wanted to act MMORPGish and hide from line of sight to bring the dumb NPCs closer to you so you could VATS their head off.

At least those didn't dress like savages. They were actually pretty high-tech, especially the intelligent ones, which were rigged from top to bottom in tech. The new ones just reek of orcs. But eh, I've heard they're from a different puddle of FEV (but then again, how did that get there??), so it's more or less ok.

And they are pretty much dumber than the FO1 mutants. These ones just piss malice and decorate their outposts with skeletons and bodyparts (Behemoth even has a SKULL AMULET). Once deprived of a Master, the FO1/2 mutants founded a town (Broken Hills), so they were at least a bit civilized compared to these nomadic human eaters.

Fire sword is implausible but mini chainsaw knife is ok?
How's a ripper implausible at all? It's just a smaller, energy cell powered chainsaw. The problem with the firesword is that it's gasoline based (well, in the game, it actually just runs on magic, but you use a motorcycle gas tank to build it, so it's most likely supposed to be fuel powered), so a) You're using a resource the war was about, b) The gasoline would drip from the sword onto your arm and burn you. I wouldn't say it's that much about plausibility as it is about usability, you could probably construct something like this, but you'd also probably kill yourself in the process of using it.

The wasteland looks too much like a boring wasteland?
Personally, I think it looks too much like Morrowind, way too many boulders, it looks like a gravel pit. I can't really complain about it being "boring", it's not supposed to be exciting, although it is a bit repetetive (wouldn't stick out so much if it wasn't for the samey highway segments everywhere).

The main problem is, the main story is crap compared to other points in the game. I found a much more enjoyable time, doing what I wanted, doing side quests and adventuring. Go to Vault 106, after getting absorbed in the game for 5 hours, and all the sudden it is extremely freaky. However the story line just gets bullshittie and random. After vault 87, and the Enclave, I was like wtf? How did they get in here, AND why bother with me, this suckssss. Plus I felt they drawed out vault 87 alot. They should have added more areas ya know. All the sudden the main quest just becomes fighting super mutants constantly. From GNR to 87. It just gets tiring. Especially when they become much tougher in levels. Being lvl 8 against super mutants is much easier than level 15. I think they should have focused on the surrounding, it's where the game shines. When you get taken in by moral decisions, see the impact. Let the ghouls get revenge on tenpenny. Then ask yourself if you wanted to that again?

Oblivion was like that too.  The most immersion I got in the game was during my mage's guild recommendation quest-chain, traveling on foot to each town, staying in hotels through the night, and having a lot of RP-y fun; and doing the Ayleid artifact quest, where there were like 15 of them you had to get.  Even then, Ayleids were lame compared to the Dwemer.

Just tried it on the PC.

Possibly the most CTDs in a game I've ever seen. Even DF in it's Earliest alpha was more stable.

I shall counter with my own anecdotal evidence!  I and my friends have been playing on the PC almost all week and have had no problems at all.

I started at first at having a lot of ctd, but then eventually they went away. I feel like, I can really get into the game, when I make a movement of my own choice. Like adventuring in the wastes, looking to subdue baddies with their fingers ( I used to be a capital crimelord once, however the lawbringer perk changed things ) I ended up looking for the Tree guys, but ended up having to confront 2 deathclaws in a row ( yeah being level 16!) and found vault 97? anyways. Depressing story there. Isn't there not a vault that the people actually survived in for god's sakes.
