Some of the things make sense. Even the hat that does +1 per. It, uh, keeps the sun from glaring your eyes. Some clothes irl do make your job easier so it makes sense it gives you a small bonus.

I must agree that a lot of the items are silly, but the bonuses are small and not game breaking.

I think a lot of people are upset that the game has actually moved on and is more than Fallout 1 with different quests.

And you know just as many people would complain if that were the case, as well.

But can you explain a hat that makes you luckier? Why does a hat effect what's going to happen when you pull that lever over there?

How do you explain a dog that makes people's guns explode?

A weird random event that makes everything a bit unluckier is a whole lot different than cheap and commonplace +2 items lying around everywhere. I admit that the random events in Fallout 2 were fairly ridiculous and cheesy.

Why can't they every just upgrade a classic game instead of changing everything so that it's exactly like the other crap you make? Fallout 3 is a decent generic RPG game, but it's so different than Fallout 1&2 that I don't think it deserves to be called Fallout 3.

Because Bethesda makes first-person RPGs, it's what they do.  If they tried to make a real successor to Fallouts 1 and 2, it would probably be awful, because it's not their thing.

So, don't announce it as such. There was Fallout:Tactics, make this Fallout:DC Wasteland and we'll be happy that the original is not threatened. As it is now, they make us, who like the game the way it was, see the once-RPG series be turned into an FPS "with elements".

More games need to let you play as a schizophrenic.  VtM: Bloodlines, as bugged out as it was, pulled that off in spades.

having played and 'beaten' fallout 3.....

my main complaint (aside from the graphics problems and one bluescreen that i had, but patches should fix that) is that when you complete the main quest, the game simply ends. aside from that, the level cap of 20 is annoying (and something to plan ahead for with my next character).

overall its good. and as for the 'shiskabob' weapon you can build? flaming sword FTW! best weapon in the game imho, great for cutting down super mutants and enclave soldiers alike. i was lucky to buy it from a traveling merchant early on.

next time i play, ill stop the main quest somewhere before i rescue dad. the real fun is exploring the wastes after all.

I hoped that you can do side quests after finishing the game... Well, there'll be mods.

Also 20 lvl max is a bit annoying too... Well, there'll be mods :D.

And when the SDK is released I'm going to add a few secret locations from F1&2. You know, those cheesy secret encounters :). I hope that it won't be harder than modding TES (I've made a few mods for Morrowind and Oblivion and it was pretty easy).

It's indeed short, even doing all side quests. It will probably be better with an expansion pack. The map itself is also very very small if compared with oblivion. Ultra small if compared to morrowind. Non-existent if compared with daggerfall.

In my opinion, it's not worth buying until there are some expansions or decent mods.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on Gamecube was quirky that way.

I find it interesting that (almost) no mention of game play has been made. How is it generally? Too short 'n simple for a DF lover like me?

It doesn't seem like it's going to be anywhere near the 100+ hours Bethesda promised, but it's not one of those 20-minute games, either.

Most situations can be solved with your guns. Despite that, I find the game very enjoyable, especially with the

Nope, it's more like a 5 hours game. Even doing all side quests. There just isn't much there. It's a wasteland after all.

But you can always waste time exploring 'dungeons'.

Playing the 'free full demo' from a russian release, so I can't tell: is there a version of the editor included with the game? Or does the old oblivion editor work? I'm hoping it's easy for modders to add on stuff - maybe even throw in some desert resources (I've seen oblivion mods in dune-esque settings) and build a west-coast wasteland :D
