p*****1?

Oh, I see, the 1 is pointing to a link, I thought that was one of those pretentious signatures people always post.  This has just made the meaning of p***** less clear, not more clear.

Post edited. That should clear things up, and the link now points to the right page, as well.

I think I finally truly understand that saying about internet arguments.  Winning one has nothing to do with your stance, evidence, or in fact your argument at all.  All it is is a matter of endurance.  If you make reasonable, logical, statements supported by facts, there are two main responses.  First your opponent may start by ignoring your arguments they can't counter, or dismissing them by calling them petty or nitpicking, if you continue though, they always seem to end up either disappearing with perhaps a parting flame about your sexual orientation, or taking the lunatic extremist route and making up something that is complete bullshit and only vaguely based on a heavily twisted version of what you said like taking the statement;  "I don't think we should always be forces to eat apples, sometimes people like oranges."  and saying as a sarcastic response "Oh yeah, let's make everything oranges!  That's really reasonable!" thus painting you as what they themselves actually are.

Of course allot of this comes from the fact that generally, one person who stays in an internet argument for a long time is forced to deal with multiple people arguing against them, few of whom are actually reading their posts, and are just reading the arguments against that person in order to find someone to ape off of and get on the bandwagon.  That would wear anyone down, even if they had unlimited free time.

That does assume one is making one's points in a clear and understandable manner in the first place.

Seriously, Everyone, not just Ioric, not just McDoomhammer, Everyone.

SHUT UP

Why? because this thread has no purpose. Bethesda isn't reading this thread searching for ways to improve their game, and it's clear that everyone participating is so firm in their choice that neither side has a snowball's chance in Hell of convincing anyone else that they're right and the other choice is wrong.

The only purpose left for this thread is to breed hate, creating animosity between the two sides, aswell as individuals, that will grow inside us like a parasite before it kills us all. From hatred we get flames, and from there it's only a matter of time before this forum degenerates into just another mindless gamer forum.

I for one will not stand idly by and allow one of the last bastions of intelligent life on the endless sea of 1337-speak that is the Internet collapse on itself.

Ah yes, the classic, "You're all stupid so shut up, but especially that guy I disagree with."  Great one Omath.

If you'd actually read my post you'd see I was stating that I've decided it's pointless to continue this argument since the only response I'm getting is someone twisting, "Bethesda thinks gamers are stupid." into  "I think gamers are stupid." among other things.  No point in arguing when the person you're arguing with makes up his own points to disagree with.

Summary: All references to real world drugs have been removed from all versions of Fallout 3 to suit the stupidity of the Australian government. ::)

You know, I'll just go ahead and make all the obvious responses to this post for you all so you don't have to go to the trouble.

"You're just nit picking."
"You're just being petty."
"This one problem doesn't ruin the game."
"You're a stupid fan boy who will hate the game no matter what."
"You're an elitist prick who thinks you know what everyone else is thinking."

Ok, anyone got something original?

I didn't emphazize any one person, infact I went out of my way to do the opposite, making sure that anyone with even a basic grasp of The English Language would quickly pick up that I was attempting to be neutral.

See?

Once, again, because you seem to ignore things that are blatantly obvious, I'M NEUTRAL. I've never played Fallout 1, or 2, and I have no intention of playing the third iteration. Not because I don't like it, i'm simply not that interested.

I don't have to in order to realize that this thread is nothing more than a means to vent our rage at each other, and your reply perfectly sums that up.

I didn't call anyone, "stupid", despite you coating this topic in kerosene and lighting a match, I like to think that everyone here is doin a relativly good job of keeping civil, but i'm unsure how long that'll last.

(What happened to that Fallout Debate thread from a few weeks ago anyway?)

EDIT: You edited your post after I made this one, which only adds to the delicious irony, as you twisted my words in a very blatant manner.

No, I wasn't, thats why it's crossed out. Because I decided against actually saying that after realizing it seemed to sound like I was arguing specificially with you.

If it really bothers you, and you aren't just nit-picking to keep your damned thread alive, I'll edit it out for you.

"...[Fallout Fans] were the ones that made it popular.  They were the ones that still liked it ten years after the fact even though it had released one mediocre and one terrible game, and was no longer popular."

I laughed.

So shouldn't said Fallout fans like Fallout 3, since according to you, this is a terrible/mediocre game?

Also, Battlefield: Bad Company butchered the lore of previous Battlefield games.

and Madden 09 butchered the lore of previous Madden games.

See where i'm going with this?

Sure, if you really are neutral, where did this troll come from?

Don't come in here trying to look like the voice of reason.

Not a flame, first of all.

I was disagreing with you, because, once again, even having played none of the games and having no actual opinion of them outside of what i've read in this thread, I can tell that you were wrong there.

You claimed to be one of apparantly several Fallout fans who loved the game despite them being "terrible/mediocre" games, I thought it was funny that you would dislike a game that replicated this.

I also know, from playing other games, (such as those mentioned) that a game doesn't need lore, or to even follow th previous lore, to be successful, or to be liked.

What it needs to be, is fun.

If you think Fallout 3 will be, at its very core, when you strip out the atmosphere and lore (or lack thereof) will be fun, than play it, and enjoy it. No harm done.

If you think that regardless of lore or atmosphere (or lack thereof) the game itself will not be fun, then don't play it, and let others have their fun. No harm done.

Edit: Once again, edited your post after I made this 'un, I am trying to be the voice of reason here, because noone else will.

No... what I said was that Fallout fans like Fallout 1 and 2 and still do despite Fallout Tactics and Fallout: Bortherhood of Steel being mediocre and a pile of shit respectively.

Also, you're comparison of CRPGs like Fallout 1 and 2 to a multiplayer team based first person shooter and an annually re-released sports game is like comparing Sherlock Holmes to Halo.

And the harm done if Fallout 3 strips out all the lore and everything else whether it's fun or not is to the fans.

Guys, I don't want to stop you from having fun, but can someone explain me what are we discussing now? I'm a bit disappointed by the twist of the thread and while I want to insert my opinion here I can't get the grasp of things. What is going on HERE?
