None from me. Still, have any suggestions for a good crossbow and a decent shortsword? And some illusory equipment? I think you said you had some book on magical items.

What class are you playing as, anyway?

Sorcerer!

And, yeah I have a nice magic item book. Let me look a few things up.

As to the crossbow, just get a +1 crossbow. I didn't see anything better. As to equipment, 1st level Pearls of Power let you regain a used 1st level spell slot once per day. They only cost 1000 each. I'll keep looking.

Why don't you hop on msn? I'm rick_void@hotmail.com.

Hmmm...

How about a +1 Alchemal Light Crossbow, then? I was reading about that recently.

Also been reading this, and thinking Kapak. Possibly something like Kapak 4/ Beguiler 2, with light crossbow and shortsword, using some feats. But there are probably better ways to go about it.

Only problem is, I've been having problems trying to set up those character sheets. Grrr...

My thoughts exactly.  I've read through the 4th Edition books and it's just a mess of weird math to me.  GURPS is extremely simple - namely, simple enough to be explained and understood without a rulebook even.

...  What is this "4th Edition" you speak of?  Are you sure you aren't thinking of World of Warcraft?

I'm going to assume that was facetious, since this exists.  This does raise the question: What rule set are we using?

Honestly, I'm not qualified to talk about D&D since I never understood any of the rules while I was playing it.  I just played by ear and screwed up the GM's plans (which was always the point with our group).  Understand that I'll be playing this the same way.

My character is done. I'm a druid. Elf hippy, naturally.

I'll join, but I'll need an update on the ruleset and stuff. I'm not sure if NWN covers all the right areas. From current party composition, I'll play a fighter.

I would suggest a light seeking crossbow (2335 GP, +1 to attack from being masterwork which is required for a magical weapon, negates any miss chances from darkness, concealment, or spells etc) and a +1 keen shortsword (8310 GP, attack and damage +1, crit range 17-20 instead of the regular 19-20) That sucks up most of your wealth, but I beleive leaves just enough over for +1 armor of some sort (on the lines of 1300 GP) and other supplies like trail rations, backup daggers or other weapons, torches...

If the shortsword is too pricy, just make it a keen shortsword (+1 to attack for being masterwork, 17-20 crit range, 2310 GP). That leaves you tons of gold left over.

Just a polite reminder, a weapon needs to be at least +1 before you add any special abilities, such as seeking.

Cerej is correct. That is why I suggested just going with the +1 weapons. Much cheaper.

We are using the D&D 3.5 rulesset, plus assorted splatbooks. 28 point buy character creation, level six characters, 13000 gold for magic equipment. Use the links posted on the last page to find the rules and a character generator.

We'll be running this over msn, so don't forget to add shadow_archmagi@comcast.net and rick_void@hotmail.com to your buddy list, if you want to play.

Now that I've thought a bit about it, I'll probably go with a human beguiler. No fancy nonstandard race crap. Perhaps a keen +1 light crossbow(8335 gp), a +1 shortsword(2310 gp) and a mithral shirt(1100 gp). Totaling 11745 gp, leaving me with 1255 gp to spend as I see fit if my calculations are correct.

I'll focus mostly on the roguish side of the beguiler, but I'll still use magic. But we've already got a few magic users, so I'm support at best.

What do you think?
