hmm, i just checked something someone posted earlier in this thread, and i think it would be very useful if we did play. check maptool at http://doku.rptools.net/doku.php

Yeah, that was me. As I said, I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and it's basically a solid way to get an actual game board and let people move their characters around and stuff. (I seem to find new features every time I mess around with it, too, but that's probably due to the unfortunate lack of documentation more than anything). Excellent if we've got similar groups, rather useless for PbP.

Anyway, it probably would be a good idea to get an idea of everyone's timezones. Despite my wonky posting hours, I'm in Central, ie GMT-6. I'm currently on a nocturnal binge I really need to get off of sometime soon.

I'll also reiterate that, at most, I can only offer my services as a co-DM - I've already got my creative faculties engaged in another campaign.

I'm on GMT exactly. Usually late-afternoon to evening, although various activities take up time sometimes.

I don't really care - MSN or play by post is fine. However, I'm in Newfoundland, GMT -3:30, so timezones may or may not be a problem there. What if we made groups by timezones?

That sounds optimal.

I live in Alaska! Woo! So yeah, totally out of whack with the rest of the world. :P. In any case, the groups by timezone sounds fabulous, however, grouping by the times we are online seems a little better for all of our sanities.

i'm GMT+2, but that doesnt say much about my online time, since it can vary day-to-day... thats why i prefer PbP. but i could try to be online when required, i just cant guarantee i'll always be online when the others are... especially ounce school starts

List enbiggened. We don't need everyone to be in the same time zone, just to coincidentally have the same time free in their day.

yes, we dont have to be on the same timezone, but the problem is that maybe we can't all be on at the same time. that's why PbP might be slower, but more consistent. otherwise, if we have to do it by MSN or any IM, atleast limit the number of people per group. the lower the number of people, the more liquely they are all on at the same time.

List further uplarged, mostly 'cause I got passed over twice. Although I think shadow only added himself.

Anyway, yeah; small groups would make for the least getting-together headache, but that either requires more DMs or one super-robot-DM. Or PbP, as mentioned. We're at something of an impasse then; PbP is both slower and less focused on the type of game we're going for, and we've got, well, ten people listed in terribly disparate timezones in terms of a more traditional meet-up.

Insofar as timing goes, I'd hazard a guess as to being able to make time from 4 PM to 12 AM depending on the needs of others on whatever days/nights are convenient. At the moment it's a conundrum that makes my head hurt.

Also, wait; isn't 'Californian' time GMT - 8? I don't remember exactly where Mountain and Pacific end and start/end but I always think of west coast as being two hours behind me.

well, for me, timing is good for this month, i can be on most weekdays from 1pm (noon) to 10 pm GMT+2, maybe even longer, which is almost half the day... weekends are harder, and i sometimes have days i unexpectadly cant come on... but since these times are in GMT+2, even though i'm on 9 hours a day i probably wont be on at the same time as many other players because of time difference... also, ounce school's in again, i'll have much less time

Anyway I'm at -5.

Lets look at the list:
North America
3:30 Shadow_Archmagi
5 Rickvoid
5 THLawrence
6 KoE
8 Mulch Diggums
9 Devath

So that is 6 players over a 5:30 spread. That may be rather difficult. Are there any lurkers out there from the Eastern half of north America? Otherwise we are going to have a very wide spread.
