D&D: Dungeons and Dwarfeses
« on: August 27, 2008, 10:41:07 pm »

So, given the incredible amount of nerdiness and number-love that DF requires/endows its players with, and the numerous D&D references I've spotted around, I was wondered just how many of the DF community were also D&D fans, and if anyone might be interested in organizing a game?

I haven't actually played D&D but I like that sort of game. Usually I'm DM instead of the hero but it's you who brought it up so you get to choose.

I used to play D&D for year's, from the age of 7/8 to 16. If anyone lives in Scotland I would be up for a game :P. Oh did anyone play AD&D?, it was awesome, i had a ranger with my magic mount and a +5 defender in one hand and a frost brand in the other.

Doing D&D over a forum is easy!

I'm a huge D&D fan. I'd love to get into a game, whether it's 3.5 or 4th edition. Though I'm not entirely familiar with 4th edition (don't have the books yet).

I have a collection of 3.5 D&D books... With a few 3.0s here and there.

Cool, where abouts in Scotland you live? Cause if you live in Edinburgh I recommend going to ORC (Open Roleplaying Community)
www.orcedinburgh.co.uk

I played D&D once for about 3 hours.
The dice got rolled once.
We spent the rest of the time arguing ferociously over some kobolds.

I live in Aberdeen I’m afraid. Used to go to the asylum for the odd game but its a shop which means normal none D&D customers see my extreme sadness and it makes me self conscious :P, going round to someone’s house is much better. Did you ever go to drakcon? My DM was the guy who organised it :>.

Okay then! Dwarf Forum D&D shall go. Personally, I prefer 3.5e due to its enormous variety and adaptability and suchlike. In other words, in the billion sourcebooks out there, I'm sure we can find enough to cobble together a dwarf-fortress type thing.

Here is the plan:

First, people who want in add me (Shadow_archmagi@comcast.net) to their MSN list (Meebo is a free website that will allow you to use MSN without installing it, if for whatever reason you cannot. MSN also has a lovely dice-roller. Of course, if our DM is experienced with openRPG, that is nice as well.)

Second, we choose a DM (I would be willing to DM and am not too bad, but I enjoy PC a good deal more. )

Third, we return to this thread and bicker about rules (All Dwarf Party? Dwarf-Fortress-Made dungeons only? Toady's elves?)
