You got the Germans wrong. They didn't use axes very often, relying on their large square wooden shields and the framae(Latin for german spears). Each troop carried several Framae which could be thrown and wielded in close combat comfortably.

By the way, I plan on updating this for the next version when it comes out. Should prove interesting (and hopefully less buggy where the plants are concerned).

Don't think so.  A megathread might be cool but I don't want to make it seem too much like My Evil Plan to Transform the Raws, which it probably does already.

My fortress always crashes spontaniously about 45 minutes in for no reason. I will see if I can upload the save file.

That's pretty odd, that's never happened to me. Is there anything in specific you were doing at the time? Ie. certain workshops? Did you embark on a river?

Nope. To test it I just waited. After a while that menu comes up telling you you have to shut it down and would you like to notify windows about this? Annoying because this mod kicks ass and I was trying to start a legionary fort.

It should work fine, but if it doesn't let me know and I'll update it for 40d. I don't remember offhand what 40d added but I'm fairly sure it didn't touch any of the raws.
