I've been wanting to start one of these for a while now. For now, this thread will serve to judge interest, and/or take suggestions.
The basic premise is that the entire fort is going to be above-ground. Original, eh?
Oh, and all of the buildings will be steel sky-scrapers of varying heights (I'm hoping to get the highest one to level 20 or higher). No food production except cooks and brewers (Do they count as "food production?"); most of the resources will hopefully be brought in by trade (As most things are in the big city). No wood or stone buildings except in the very beginning - hopefully everything will be iron, steel, or other precious metals. The only underground will be cellars and such, and to capitalize on that, we'll have aquifer, so underground stuff can't go too deep.
What do you all think? Worth expanding upon?

They always say that to be the best is a good thing. It means you get the best jobs, and the best rooms, and the largest acounts. But there is always a downside. Oh yes, a downside.
My name is James Monomkun. I am the most reknown architect and mason in my kingdom. For the last few years, I'd settled down comfortably in the Capital, enjoying the fruits of my many labors. That is, of course, until last week.
It seems the King has a son. One he loves very much. It seems that The Son got a bright idea, that instead of digging into the ground like all sane dwarves do, wouldn't be just oh so fun to instead live high in the sky, in towers made of stone and steel? Now, you would expect the King, if he were himself sane, to pat the brat on the head and ignore him. But oh ho, no, you see, The King loves The Son very much. So much, that he assigned his best architect to the job, giving me pick of the city for my crew, and some starting funds.
Always a downside to everything. A big, bloody downside.
