Some display problems
« on: August 26, 2008, 09:12:40 pm »

Uh, this is with the Versions I download from Mayday's page, specifically V11, his latest release.

I can't take screenshots of the fullscreen mode because of... whatever it is that prevents me doing so, but when I enter into fullscreen mode, the init 80:60 default means that DF appears in an extremely squished rectangle in the top left of my screen.

If I change it back into 80:25, it reappears as a slightly less squashed rectangle in the middle of my screen. Before, on V10, it would appear as a good large size, but now it's really quite disconcerting.

In any case, changing the second value of the 80:25 seems to move it up and down the screen instead of... I thought it increased the resolution, or something?

Also, if I window mode it, DF still takes up my entire screen - just as a window. Before it used to collapse all that black space.

I'm not sure what's happened, I tried to edit the init files of V11 to match V10's init files, but it doesn't seem to have done anything (resolution wise)

Copy and paste all the display options from init.txt My guess is that you upped the screen size w/out upping the grid size.

Uh, I did that, and now while the sound is there, DF has dissappeared from sight entirely...

Luckily I can still here that it's there, so I can cancel out of it, but now it's just gone. : /

/EDIT Oh, i copypasta'd the init settings but mayday renamed the tilesets. One second.

Ok, graphics are back, but while my window is now perfectly square and whatnot the huge problem is still remaining. And DF is still a squished rectangle in the middle of my screen.

wow, I wish I were psychic enough to know that you were using mayday.   I meant, copy paste into the forum, and use spoiler tags to save space

I said I was using Mayday in the first sentence. No need to get snarky.

Anyway...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Is that everything?

try turning off blackspace in full screen under graphics.  If that doesn't work, just play in windowed mode.

As for screen shots, just use print screen and then paste into paint.  Crop out the borders and there you go.

I am anti-psychic, I leak knowledge into the brains of others. Unfortunately, teachers just don't understand when you copy your own answers back from the guy sitting next to you.

That worked wonderfully! Thankyou.

I don't know what you meant by that last sentance, but I'm going to blithly assume it was awesome.
