ramps lead to 3x wide tunnel leading to my depot. This way even elven caravans spawn on the spot.

You could channel out the perimeter of your map, yes, but you would still have a 1-tile wide area around your map - which, depending on your map, could permit elves to spawn on the opposite end, and have to work their way around the entire thing.

I say depending on your map because of trees. I don't think boulders block elven caravans, but trees definitely do.

Ah, yes, indeed! Last games I just looked for 2 trees on the edge of the map near each other and started the outlet from there. Earlier I just did not care about elves at all.

Modified my code a bit.
